Lee (Cardillo) Cianciolo

Mrs. Lee (Cardillo) Cianciolo, of New Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in the comfort and dignity of her home with her loving family by her side, following a brief illness. Lee was born in Utica, the daughter of the late Crescenzo J. and Catherine (Scalise) Cardillo. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from T.R. Proctor High School. On September 10, 1955 she married Joseph D. Cianciolo with whom she shared her life for nearly 57 years. Together, they created a blessed union based on love and commitment. At one time, Lee held employment with the New Hartford School District as a teacher’s aide. She will be remembered for her loving and thoughtful ways of putting the needs of others before her own and being a teacher and nurturer to all. She was a strong and dignified woman who carried herself with class and grace, always the lady. She was a constant supporter of her loved ones and those around her. Her mother’s intuition allowed her to be available to listen to her children, and also to be their best friend. She was a loving, sincere, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was proud of the home she built with her husband, and the walls within which she raised her family. Lee enjoyed traveling which brought her not only the adventures of new locations, but also the joys of bonding and being with her beloved family. She generously and graciously volunteered her time at the St. Joseph Nursing Home where she blessed others with her uplifting and heartfelt company and conversation. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Lee’s unconditional love, wise words, and friendship will be missed by her beloved husband, Joseph; her daughter, Deborah Cianciolo of Liverpool; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Joseph J. and Dr. Elizabeth Cianciolo of Staunton, VA; and her grandchildren, Catherine Cianciolo, and Joseph Clayton Cianciolo. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Veronica “Ronnie” Taylor of Utica, Dr. Thomas J. and Laurie Cianciolo of Clarence, NY, and Jerry A. Cianciolo of FL. She was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Cardillo. In keeping with Lee's wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lee’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:00 at St. John the Evangelist Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Reverend Joseph S. Zareski. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a contribution to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; envelopes will be available at the service. Committal Prayers and interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
