Kathleen C. Giannico

Kathleen C. Giannico, age 49, of Yorkville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the comfort and privacy of her home. Born in Utica on October 12, 1960, Kathleen is the daughter of Catherine “Kay” (Reale) Giannico and the late Sam R. Giannico. She was raised and educated in Utica and Whitesboro, graduating from Whitesboro High School. She shared a mutual love and devotion with her companion, Guy Rzotkiewicz. From 1980 until 1994, Kathleen worked for Dr. Heintz as a secretary. Kathleen currently worked as the secretary and front office manager for Dr. McKennan at Oxford Medical Imaging since 1994. Dr. McKennan affirms that “She was the heartbeat of the office, and the first to offer a warm welcome to patients. Her compassion and professionalism with patients, referring physicians, and staff was well recognized, and her friendship and laughter will be greatly missed by her fellow employees and employer”. Kind and loving, she was everyone’s best friend, and she was blessed with many who were true to her. She was graced with a helpful nature and could always be relied upon to lend a hand or a kind word. She participated in the Women’s Thursday Night Golf League at the Shamrock, and enjoyed the casino, her camp at Piseco Lake, and at one time, bowling. She was a member of the VFW Post 6001, and the Whitestown Vets Club. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Kathleen is survived by her companion, Guy Rzotkiewicz; her mother, Catherine; and her sister and brother-in-law, Christine and James Gleason of Westmoreland. Survivors also include her nephews, Jimmy, Jr. and Licia Gleason and their children, Samantha and James III; and Jason Gleason; her aunts and uncles, Michael and Winnie Giannico of Rome, Mike and Sarah Reale, Isabelle Torraco, Nick and Ruth Reale, and Annette Sullivan of NM. In addition, she leaves her extended family, Guy’s parents, Walter and Stella Rzotkiewicz; and Guy’s siblings, Carol and Jim Abiusi, Brenda and Patrick Castelli and their children, Michael, and Kimberly and her friend Vic Costanza; and Aunt Helen Kulig; many cousins; and her dear friends, especially acknowledging Mariann. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the Yorkville Fire Department and the Yorkville Police Department for their timely response and efforts. Visitation will be held Wednesday (today) from 5:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Kathleen’s funeral service will commence on Thursday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
