Kathleen (Dote) Migliaccio

Mrs. Kathleen “Kathy” (Dote) Migliaccio, age 65, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at The Abraham House with the love of her family by her side. Born in Utica on June 15, 1947, Kathleen was the daughter of Rose M. (Adamany) Dote and the late John Dote. Raised and educated locally, she attended T.R. Proctor High School. She was of the Catholic faith. Kathy worked in her profession as a creative and talented floral designer for over 25 years, beginning at Anthony’s Flowers on Mohawk Street and then Bushinger Flowers prior to retirement. Kathleen modeled herself in the image of her mother who she admired. She was blessed with the qualities of kindness, gentleness, and thoughtfulness that shined through all the days of her life. When Kathy walked into a room, her presence radiated through her natural and charismatic attributes. Her gracious and gentle ways were an inspiration to all. Above all else, her motherly ways were genuine, and her children will miss her more than words can ever express. Her greatest accomplishment was being Nana to Walter. She will be remembered for honoring family traditions and always finding a way to celebrate special occasions with style and grace. Never forgotten will be her quirky, silly, funny, loving and warm and compassionate ways when needed. During her spare time, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, watching the Food Network Channel, or rooting for her favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Kathy is survived by her co-pilot of 38 of those years, Louis P. Migliaccio; her daughters, Kathy Ann and Walter Mcrae of Taberg, and Renee Migliaccio and Mike Martin of Remsen; her son, Richard Migliaccio of Middleville, NY; her adored grandson, Walter Franklin Mcrae; and her step-granddaughter, Amanda Joy Martin. Always close to her heart was the memory of her step-grandson, Michael F. Martin, Jr., who passed away on September 29, 2006. Also left to mourn her passing are her mother, Rose M. Dote; her sister, Yvonne Flihan and her companion, Daniel Stone of Utica; her brother, John Dote of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and longtime friends, Fred Firsching and his late wife Patricia, and a special friend and side kick for 35 years, Jeff Clark who will miss her dearly. The family extends their warmest appreciation to her wonderful Hospice nurse Chrystal Merrill. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12-2 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation to The Abraham House or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Kathy’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday at 2:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
