Josephine (Carino) Ferris

Josephine (Carino) Ferris, age 77, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 20, 2006 in the comfort of her home. Born in Utica on April 30, 1928, Josephine was the daughter of the late Angelo and Barbara (Sumerano) Carino. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. At one time she was married to Peter Ferris, Jr. An employee of the General Electric Co., Josephine worked at both the Broad St. and French Rd. locations. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. She possessed a spiritual nature and was devoted to her faith and her beliefs. Josephine belonged to a number of religious groups, including the St. Anne Society, the Padre Pio prayer group, and the Ladies of Mt. Carmel. She regularly participated in the Novena to St. Jude and she was close to Father Morelle and to Father Abe Esper, both of whom she always kept in her prayers. Mrs. Ferris is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Peter III and Cindy Ferris of Old Forge; and her grandchildren, Ryan McConnell of Canton, and Nicole Ferris of Old Forge. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Eugene Parenti of Utica; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marilyn Carino; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and her in-laws, Sylvia Carino and Donald Marcouiller. In addition, she leaves many longtime and dear friends, including Rose Latella and Velma Schreppel. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Carino; and 2 sisters, Mary Carino who passed away in infancy, and Eleanor Marcouiller. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the officers and personnel of the New Hartford Police Dept. who responded with competence and kindness; and to her brother-in-law, Gene, and her nephew, Richard, both of whom offered welcome support and comfort during a difficult time. In keeping with Josephine’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Josephine’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated tomorrow morning (Friday) at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider honoring Josephine’s memory with a contribution in her name to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church; envelopes will be available at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
