Mr. Joseph A. Zutter

UTICA - Mr. Joseph A. Zutter, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 6, 2018. Born in Utica on December 7, 1958, Joseph was the son of Victoria “Vickie” (Polczynski) and the late Walter “Wally” Zutter. Joe was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 1976 and HCCC in 1978. On August 1, 1981 he married Carmelita “Carm” (Desantis) Zutter, with whom he shared 36 years. They always loved and supported one another, and were blessed with an unbreakable bond. Carm passed away on June 1, 2018, just 5 weeks before her beloved husband. Joe worked as an associate for the DeSantis family business, DeSantis Door Sales & Services Company, and was most recently employed at Harbor Freight as a supervisor. Joe had a great work ethic which he instilled into his sons to emulate. Joe was a reliable friend, always there to help, advise and fix things. Joe enjoyed many things: Notre Dame High School sports, Syracuse University basketball, demolition derbies, detailing cars and Sunday rides with Carm. Joseph is survived by his beloved mother, Victoria; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Linda Zutter; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph, Jr. and Erin Zutter; Dr. Matthew and Dr. Morgan Zutter; and David Zutter and Christina Meola; his adored and beloved grandchildren, Isabella; and Bryce; and his canine companion, Snickers. He also leaves his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfonse “Al” and Kathleen “Kay” (Guido) DeSantis; his in-laws Mary Rose and Michael Cerminaro; nephews Alec, Russell and Marcus Cerminaro and many cousins. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association online at http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Joseph’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Salerno and Rev. Cesta. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum where he will be laid to rest.
