Mr. John E. Cannucciari

Mr. John E. Cannucciari, age 57, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, February 09, 2012 at the Abraham House surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Utica on August 28, 1954, the son of Alviero and Anna S. (Colonnelli) Cannucciari. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. For several years, John was employed in the Janitorial Services Department at Utica College. He later took a position as a Line Inspector with the Human Technologies Corporation. In spite of John’s handicap disabilities, he lived and loved life to the fullest. Strong willed and determined by nature, John excelled in whatever he set his mind to accomplish. Family brought much joy to his life, and he held a special closeness to his mom. He enjoyed watching television and movies with his family and savored the tastes of his Italian heritage, often indulging in pepperoni and a continental cold cut sandwich. He liked to swim, and in his spare time he would read fiction and non-fiction books. He loved to travel and often reminisced of his trip to San Francisco where he walked the length of the Golden Gate Bridge. John is survived by his parents, Alviero and Anna; his sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Janice and Robert Bedell of New Hartford; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Daniel Peter and Phyllis Cannucciari of Auburn, and David A. and Karen Cannucciari of Syracuse. In addition, he leaves his nieces and nephews, Christopher and Leigh Cannucciari, Brandon Bedell, Jared Bedell, Laura Bedell; Minel Cannucciari, and Arden Cannucciari; great nephew, Dylan Cannucciari; many cousins with special mention of Janice and Frank Massi; his friends Bob and Carol Bedell, Edina Kadic, Diana Cornish, John James, Carl Mazzo, Charlie Morgan, and all his friends from Human Technologies. He was predeceased by his aunt, Mary Colonnelli; and his cousin, Rev. Lidio Scalabrella. The family extends special thanks to John’s brother-in-law, Rob Bedell and his father Bob Bedell for their visits and their attention to John’s needs no matter what they were; Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., the many volunteers of the Abraham House for all their exemplary care of John these last few weeks, Father Richard O’Neill for his spiritual visits, the 6th Floor staff of the Oncology Unit at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center; Dr. Samir Desai and his staff; and Edina Kadic and Rhonda Wallace from Willow Park Assisted Living – thank you all for the care and attention shown to John. John’s family will honor and commemorate his life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Saturday morning, February 18, 2012 at 11:00 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Richard O’Neill. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. For those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the Abraham House; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
