Joanne May (Nunziata) Thompson

Joanne May (Nunziata) Thompson, age 37, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 unexpectedly in her home. Joanne was born in Utica on January 15, 1975, the daughter of Victor and Hazel Nunziata. She was educated at Albany St. Elementary School and T.R. Proctor High School. At one time, she was married to Theon Thompson. For the past 2 yeas Joanne was blessed with the companionship of her love, Timothy White. She accepted his marriage proposal last Christmas. A gifted cook, Joanne shared her talent preparing meals while she volunteered at The Hope House and Rescue Mission. She loved to keep busy and helping others gave her much satisfaction. She was very fun-loving and enjoyed the companionship of family and friends. Graced with a forgiving heart, she was a caring person who went out of her way to keep in touch with those she loved. She had a persistent personality, a protective nature, and a persuasive style, making her a very spirited woman able to face the challenges that were present in her everyday life. But above all else, she truly loved her children and prayed that each of them would have a fruitful and fulfilling life. She was candid and good natured, with a forgiving heart. She looked forward to her daily telephone conversations with family and friends. She was very devoted to her beliefs, and she prayed daily. She was a member of the Redeemer Church. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Dana; her sons, Jonathon, and Joshua; her fiancé, “T”; her mother Hazel and father Victor; her sister, Victoria, and her brother, Elvis. In addition, she leaves several nieces and nephews, many cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was blessed with many friendships throughout her life. The family wishes to thank the many good friends who helped during this difficult time, including Noel Carretaro and John. Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 28th from 2:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Family and friends are invited to attend Joanne’s funeral service and Celebration of Life immediately following the calling hours, with Pastor Michael Servello from Redeemer Church officiating the ceremony. Committal prayers and interment will take place graveside at Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
