Mrs. Joan M. (Alberico) Paciello

NORTH UTICA - Mrs. Joan M. (Alberico) Paciello, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 with her loving husband by her side. Born in Utica on May 17, 1940, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Matilda (Milbower) Alberico. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy/Class of 1957. On May 5, 1962 she married Jerry J. Paciello. They shared the common attributions of their era: they worked hard and honored their responsibilities as parents and partners. They relied upon each other during their 55 years of marriage. After raising her family, Joan accepted a job at Centrex Labs in the Billing Department. She loved her work, a career that spanned 20 years. When she retired she traveled with her husband to Italy, a most memorable trip, and to Hawaii. They wintered in Florida for over 20 years and sailed the seas on numerous cruises, seeing the sights with their in-laws and best travel companions, Joe and Peggy. As a couple they saw life with optimism, which brought them many good times as a family. Joan was blessed with intelligence, sensitivity, and compassionate ways. She was all about family. Her home was the nexus for all the kids when they were growing up and she hosted many holidays, for many years. During her spare time she enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, and completing puzzles of 1,000 or more pieces. But her greatest glory was being the mother of two wonderful and generous children who adored her. Joan is survived by her husband, Jerry; her children and their loves, Tracy M. Paciello and Jamie Klosek, and Gary Paciello of Florida and Vanessa Koenig. She also leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and JoAnn Alberico; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, Aunt Rose, and in-laws, Peggy Alberico, Patricia Francis, Arlene Mason, Lucille and James Schremp, and Sandra Paciello. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph E. Alberico; and her brothers-in-law, Douglas Paciello, and John Paciello. The family celebrated and commemorated Joan’s life at a private time. Funeral services and Inurnment at Crown Hill Memorial Park were held privately.
