Jennie DiStefano Marinitti

Mrs. Jennie (DiStefano) Marinitti, age 94, a longtime Utica area resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Applewood Wing of the Katherine Luther Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, Inc. in Clinton. Born in Utica on January 4, 1918, Jennie was the daughter of the late Angelo and Maria DiStefano. She was raised and educated locally. On September 2, 1940 she married James F. Marinitti with whom she shared 42 years prior to his passing on August 25, 1983. Jennie and James shared a sacred bond of selfless love. Jennie held employment with Dunlop Manufacturing prior to her retirement. Jennie was devoted to the blessings of family life and the needs of others. She was a talented and gifted cook and baker, friends and loved ones would savor the flavor of her Italian delicacies. She enjoyed time spent socializing at the senior center. Jennie was very devoted to her Catholic faith which she practiced at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church and shared membership in the Christian Women’s Society, the St. Theresa Society, and the Sts. Cosmas & Damian Society. Jennie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria C. and Dave V. Ionta of Clinton; her son and daughter-in-law, Vito A. and Jeane Marinitti of FL; her grandchildren, Dave and Kym Ionta, Jennifer A. and John Crisan, James Marinitti, and Valerie and Joe McGlinchey; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Margaret, Tony and Dorothy, and Eddie and Theresa; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and John, and Philomena “Fannie” and Salvatore; and her great-grandson Matthew John Crisan. The family is so grateful to the nurses and staff of the Katherine Luther Health Care Rehabilitation Center, especially acknowledging Michelle House for her kindness and sensitivity in caring for Jennie. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:30-6:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jennie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of visitation
