Jenell Elizabeth Smith

UTICA – Jenell Elizabeth Smith, age, 38, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024. Born in New Hartford on August 27, 1985, Jenell was the daughter of Thomas H. and Marsha (Przyluke) Smith. She was a graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central School/Class of 2003 and then continued her education at Mohawk Valley Community College. In her youth, Jenell spent many summer days riding her bike, camping at Nick’s Lake, catching minnows in the creek, and swimming at her Nonnie’s house. Over the years, she established numerous friendships in all aspects of her life. Her very best friend was the late Kara Jweid, and it brings the family great comfort to know that they are together again. Jenell was a free spirit, and she had a fondness for all things mystical and magical which was reflected in the art she created. She had an unmatched love for music, always wanting to share her latest discoveries. Whether it was live music or trying to find the perfect song on the radio, music was a way of communication for her. She had an everlasting bond with her sister, Sarah; they always looked out for each other and cared for one another. Jenell’s greatest blessing in life was being a mother to her daughter, Daisy. They had a special relationship and created countless joyful memories. Jenell was of the Catholic faith and a former member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish Church in Chadwicks. Jenell is survived by her parents, Thomas and Marsha Smith; daughter, Daisy Atkinson, and the treasured memory of her daughter, Leah Bowser, who was born an angel in 2023; her love, Leifson Bowser; her siblings and their loves, Sarah Smith and Anthony Sciorilli, and Michael and Christina Smith; aunts and uncles, Carol and Lou Dunlay, Beth Van Dyk, Bill Smith and Debbie Murphy-Waskiewicz, and Phil and Michele Przyluke. She also leaves many cousins who held a special place in her heart; and members of the Atkinson family. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Lewis and Jane Smith; maternal grandparents, Marshall and Patty Przyluke; cousin, Brett McCarthy; and special friends, Kara Jweid, and Evan Paye. Jenell’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who treated her at Wynn Hospital, with special mention to Hannah and Abigail of 3 East Intensive Care for their care and compassion.
