Mrs. Jeanne M. (Grande) Arcuri

Mrs. Jeanne M. (Grande) Arcuri, age 80, of New Hartford, passed away on New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, 2012. Jeanne was born in Utica on April 20, 1931, the daughter of the late Rocco and Mary (Skierska) Grande. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School Class of 1948. She furthered her education in the fields of insurance, realty, and commodities. On November 3, 1951 she wed Joseph J. Arcuri, Sr. who passed away on August 4, 1981; the couple shared an enduring love and compatibility during their 29 years of marriage. Jeanne served her community with great commitment as a former Board Member of the Utica City School District, a public trust she held from 1972-1992 in the capacities of President and Vice-President. She was also involved in civic and community organizations and was constant in her dedicated leadership and continual service to the children of this community. In her later years, she derived much pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Jeanne is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Jo-Ann Padula of New Jersey, Susan Arcuri of Utica, Gina Arcuri of Trenton Falls, and Lorrie Arcuri Markason and her husband Robert of Whitesboro; her son, Joseph J. Arcuri, Jr. of New Hartford, with whom she resided; her grandchildren, Robert and Sarah Hajduk, Matthew and Maria Arcuri, Danielle and Melvin Fargas, Michael Gonzalez, Joseph Markason, Ali Markason, Regina Markason, Zach Markason, and Makenzie Ambrose; and she was blessed with many great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins, especially acknowledging Gladys Battinelli, and Beverly Martino; in-laws, Shirley and James Cannistra of Utica, and JoAnn and George Wald of FL; and her best friend Florence Piccione. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Jeanne’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
