Mr. Herman C. Wedgren Jr.

Mr. Herman C. Wedgren, Jr., age 61, of Utica, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010 in the privacy of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Brookfield, NY on September 30, 1949, Herman was the son of the late Herman and Clara Emma (Williams) Wedgren. He was raised and educated in Brookfield. At one time he was wed to the late Rose Groulx, and on May 23, 1999 he was united in marriage to the former Crystal J. Kennedy with whom he shared a loving union. Herman was formerly under the employ of MINIT Car Wash. He also worked as a driver with various trucking firms. Herman was an outdoor enthusiast and found peace in the rustic pleasure of camping. He liked western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne, and was fond of the music of Alabama and Hank Williams. He adored wolves and over the years had acquired many articles symbolizing these austere and beautiful creatures. He was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church. Herman is survived by his wife, Crystal; his daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Roger Aleong of FL, Jessica and Thomas Sanchez, and Sherra Finch, all of Utica; his sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Holly Finch, James and Dana Finch, all of Utica, Matthew Finch of W. Winfield, Herman and Kim Wedgren of New Hartford, Charles Wedgren, Travis Wedgren, and Dakota Wedgren, all of Utica; and his grandchildren, Roger and Randy Aleong; Nina and Nakita Sanchez; Amadia, Janarious Howard and Sasia David; Devyn and Donte Finch; Quincy Finch; and Herman and Brody Wedgren. He also leaves several siblings including Hank and Marie Wedgren and their son, Hankie, of Brookfield, and Jack Hamm of Johnstown; his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, many in-laws, and his friends, Dan and Darlene Alamond. The family is grateful to Dr. Julie Betro-Shkane, the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center on Culver Avenue, and the community of Historic Old St. John’s Church for their care and support. Visitation will be held Saturday from 3:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. A final blessing will be offered by Sister Joan at 4:00 at the funeral home immediately upon the conclusion of visitation.
