Mrs. Glynnis Pebbles (Brown) Reed

UTICA – Mrs. Glynnis Pebbles (Brown) Reed, age 60, unexpectedly went home to the Lord during the evening hours of Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Glynnis Brown, born on December 14, 1963, in Hollywood, Florida, was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Bertenia (Chandler) Brown. She moved to Utica as a child and was raised by her grandmother, who became a mother figure to her. She was married to Michael Reed, whom she had known since childhood. She had a compassionate soul and an open heart. In her professional capacity, she held positions as a nurse’s aide at Masonic Home and Broadacres. She then ventured into retail working at Pharmhouse and K-Mart, where she worked in management. She was well-known and well-recognized for over 20 years. She remained with the companies until their closing. Glynnis served the public with an aim to please and a sense of kindness that will never be forgotten. Glynnis was a rock for everyone – dependable, benevolent, and selfless. She spent quality time with her children whenever she could. As a mother, she treasured doing special things for them. As a mother, she had no limits and gave the same devotion to her grandchildren. Being called Ma P and Nani meant the world to her! Her grandbabies glorified her life. They loved to learn from her; she taught them cursive and many more valuable life lessons. She was in tune with each of their needs and tended to them whenever she could. She would do – and did – anything for them. She enjoyed reading her bible, writing, watching sports, cooking (sometimes for large gatherings), fishing, and spending time with family and friends (who would usually end up becoming extended family to her). Many people would agree that the food she cooked was beyond delicious, especially her mac n cheese, macaroni salad, green beans, and cabbage. Maintaining her home of greenery was of great interest to her. Her green thumb symbolized her healing spirit. There were plants all over her home, in fact, she shared cuttings that made for four households. Her home was kept immaculate and in order. If something was disarranged, you could be sure it wouldn’t be unorganized for long. Glynnis was a good shopper, always buying the perfect things for every occasion. She celebrated all major holidays and birthdays. On each of her loved ones' big days, she made it her mission to present them with a personalized cake. A woman of faith, Glynnis was an evangelist and loved sharing the Lord’s Word. She was a member of Solid Rock Church in Rome. She was a true prayer warrior; there was no room for doubt in her. Whenever Gospel music was played, she showed her affinity for the upbeat and synchronized harmony. Glynnis is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Curtis Lee Watson, Michael Reed, Mizell Reed, and Myesha Reed. She also helped care for Aaron Reed and Tennile Brown like her own; her grandchildren, Jhailex, and Ayden Reed; and Giana Garrett; her siblings and their spouses, Laurie Brown, Pastor Gregory Brown and his wife Pastor Cornelia Brown, Sherman and Sonya Brown, Ernest Brown (and his late wife Nell), David and Denise Brown, and Frederick and Linda Brown; a cherished host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and her in-laws, Millie Ward, Linda Spratt, whom she also considered her best friend, Athya Reed, Sam Reed, James Spratt, Ricky Reed, and Jaron Brown. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lindell “Frying Pan” Reed and Millie “Mulla” Spratt; and in-laws, Lindell Reed, Linda Lynn Spratt, and Flowreen Spratt. Although she may no longer be with us, her soul will live within us forever. The Reed family wishes to thank the staff at Wynn Hospital, who were so attentive and compassionate with Glynnis. They are grateful for all they did to make her comfortable, especially the E.D. and I.C.U. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Glynnis’ Home Going Service and Celebration of Life will commence at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
