Gloria R. (Andrello) Della Gala

Mrs. Gloria R. (Andrello) Della Gala, age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Charles T. Sitrin Healthcare Facility with the love and support of her family. Born in Utica on October 29, 1927, Gloria was the daughter of the late Michael and Stella (Mascaro) Andrello. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1945. On June 12, 1948 she was joined in marriage with Enrico A. “Henry” Della Gala with whom she shared 63 years in a union graced with admiration, love, and family commitment. Henry passed away on November 9, 2011. During her working life, Gloria was employed by the Upper Mohawk Valley Regional Water Board where she performed the duties of her clerical position with pride for 32 years, retiring in January 2002. She was blessed with a strong work ethic and an equally strong domestic diligence, making her maternal role as grandma and Nonnie the most fulfilling facet of her life. She also cherished the memories of the cruises she took with her husband. Gloria is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Estelle A. Caruso of New Hartford, and Denise and James McAleer of Sauquoit. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ernest R. Caruso, who passed away on May 6, 2010. She also leaves her grandchildren, Stephen and Stacy Caruso of New Hartford, David and Kristy Caruso of Sauquoit, Timothy McAleer of Sauquoit, and Elizabeth McAleer of Astoria; and her great-grandchildren, Rebecca, and Michael Caruso; Devin, and Casey Caruso. Her extended family includes many nieces, especially Joy Ventura, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Mary P. Della Gala, Mildred Della Gala, and Connie Della Gala; and her dear friend Dolores Calenda. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Marian Andrello, and Anthony J. “Tony” and Louise Andrello; her in-laws, Anthony P. “Gellie” Della Gala, Isabel “Isabella” Della Gala, Louise and Anthony Falange, Raymond Della Gala, and Joseph Della Gala; and her friend, Lucille J. Gallo. The family will honor and commemorate Gloria’s life in a private gathering. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
