Mr. Frank J. DiPerna

Mr. Frank J. DiPerna, age 91, of Utica, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with the love and support of his family. Frank was born in Utica on May 20, 1920, the son of the late Carmine and Assunta (Rich) DiPerna. He was raised and educated locally. On September 23, 1944 he married, "his angel" the former Theresa M. DeRusso with whom he shared a good life for 60 years prior to her passing on June 9, 2005. Frank’s working life was extensive. For over 40 years, he was employed with Associated Transport. After he retired, he enjoyed long daily walks greeting his old friends along the way. But paramount in his mind and heart were the four loves of his life: family, music, old movies, and dancing. He was fond of singing and was blessed with a beautiful voice and his friends and family loved to hear him sing. He had a very humorous side to his personality. Frank thought the world of his grandchildren and they brought joy to his soul and a smile to his face. He was a communicant of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Frank is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn DiPerna of New Hartford, Barbara and Stephen Gondek of East Syracuse, Lucy and Robert Brodowski of Liverpool, and Ann and Dennis Scire of New Hartford; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Susan DiPerna of Remsen, and Rocco and Janet DiPerna of Utica; his grandchildren, Robert DiPerna, Jr., Lisa and Stephen Przepiora, Gina and Terri Gondek, Carrie and Jeffrey Robinson, Denise Scire, Christopher and Matthew Brodowski, Alex, Lucas and Mark DiPerna; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jeffrey, and twins Carley and Courtney, Emily, James, Jonathan, Maria, David, Daniel, Lilyan, Theresa Rose, Bridget, Margaret, Joseph and Dominick. He leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Mary DiPerna; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Margaret DeRusso and Jennie DiPerna; and special cousin-in-law, Ann Heinrich. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rocco, Anthony and Joseph DiPerna; his sisters, Rose Calo, Elizabeth DiPerna, and Susan Ciaccia; his brother-in-laws, Angelo DeRusso, Patrick Calo and Vincent Ciaccia; and sister-in-laws, Lucy and Helen DiPerna. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church in lieu of flowers; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Frank’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday at 12:00 noon at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. Anthony P. LaFache officiating. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
