Mr. Francis G. "Frank" Jewett Sr.

Mr. Francis G. “Frank” Jewett, Sr., age 67, of Marcy, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 15, 2011in the privacy of his home with the love and support of his family. Francis was born in Utica on November 27, 1943, the son of Margaret “Peggy” (Alsheimer) Jewett-Meyers and the late Frank G. Jewett. He was raised and educated in local schools. On November 27, 1965 he married the former Jennifer J. Sinclair with whom he shared 45 years in a close bond of hearts; they were compatible, content with each other, and concerned with each other’s well-being. Frank began his working career with numerous local roofing companies. In time, he and his brother Chuck established the Jewett & Flynt Roofing Company. In 1993, Frank, Chuck, and Frank’s son-in-law, Mike Killino began operating as Jewett Brothers Home Improvement; Frank retired in 2005. A daily pleasure in Frank’s life was frequenting his grandchildren’s restaurant the Riverside Diner, a cozy place where he was affectionately known to the patrons as “Pops”. A dependable and loyal dad and grandfather, he could be counted upon to help his loved ones in any way possible. A true family man, he was loved and admired by them in return. He was fortunate to have his mother in his adult life, and he was her rock, always tending to her physical and emotional needs. At his home, a bounty of food and cook-outs were commonplace, and all were welcome. He never refused others and was aware of human needs, opening his heart and home with genuine compassion. A generous soul, he was always thinking of those who needed a helping hand. He also had a love for his dogs, “Nikki, and Baby”, and forever remembered “Gilly”, who passed. Some of his most memorable family times were spent vacationing at the beaches of Cape Cod. Frank is survived by his wife, Jen; his mother, Peggy of Utica; his daughter and son-in-law, Gina M. and Michael D. Killino of Marcy; his sons and daughters-in-law, Francis G. Jewett, Jr. and his girlfriend Donna Schultz of Marcy, James E. and Kim Jewett of Whitesboro, Joseph A. and Sarah Jewett of Utica, and Jason Jewett and Tiffany McConn of Deerfield; his grandchildren, Michael C. and Ginelle Killino, Jenalle N. Killino; Francis G. III, and Daniel M. Jewett; James E. Jr., Shannon, and Sean Jewett; Elizabeth, and Aubrey; Danielle, Kimberly, Chelsea, Marisa, Crystal and Tiffany Schultz; and his great-grandson, Landon Michael Killino. In addition, he leaves his brothers and sister-in-law, Chuck and Sue Jewett, and Leo “Buddy” Meyers and companion DeeDee; his sister, Emily Meyers; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, especially Don Wood, and in-laws, Mark Sinclair, Mary Pelli-Maggio and her husband Santo Maggio, Jody and Bobby Martucci, Theresa and Mike Bush, Tammy Smith, and April Sinclair. Frank was loved as a dad by Dwayn L. and Johnny Holmes, and was blessed with best friends, Frank “Spook” LaBella, and Doug Soper, his ‘coffee buddies’, and family friend Linda Perryman and her late husband, Sonny, as well as many friends and loyal patrons throughout the years. He was predeceased by his infant brother, Leo. At the time of Frank’s untimely passing, the family found comfort from the assistance of the New York State Police from Troop D, the Maynard Volunteer Paramedics, and the ER physicians and staff at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, who were all outstanding and truly dedicated in caring for Frank and his family. Also, thanks are extended to Dr. Sudershan Dang, Frank’s longtime physician, and Fr. Anthony P. LaFache for his final prayer. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-8:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be considered to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Frank’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
