Mrs. Florence (Tocco) DeLuca

Mrs. Florence (Tocco) DeLuca, age 93, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010 with the love and support of her family at the Masonic Care Community of NY. Born in Frankfort, NY on May 22, 1917, Florence was the daughter of the late Frank and Providenzia (Paratore) Tocco. Raised and educated in Frankfort, she attended Frankfort High School and the Utica School of Beauty Culture. On October 10, 1942 in St. Mary’s Church in Frankfort, she married Pasquale J. “Patsy” DeLuca with whom she shared 68 years. During her younger years, Florence owned a beauty parlor and also worked as a beautician at the Starlite Beauty Shop with her sister. She later continued her career as a beautician and hairdresser at the Boston Store, the position from which she retired. She was a member of the East Utica Senior Center where she enjoyed line dancing. A woman of great spirituality, Florence was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Addolorata Society and the Columbian Society of Frankfort, NY. Florence is survived by her husband, Patsy; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia M. and John K. Barkett of Clinton; her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Diana DeLuca of Frankfort; her grandchildren, Barbara Barkett, John, Jr. and Lisa Barkett, Anthony Barkett and fiancée Amy Heiderich, Donald DeLuca, Jr., and Victoria DeLuca; and her great-grandchildren, Jack Barkett, Gabriella Barkett, and Grace Barkett. Survivors also include her sister, Marion Wetmore of Frankfort; her brother, Joseph Tocco of Frankfort; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Jane Spina; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Lucy Tocco, Victor J. and Catherine “Kay” Tocco; her in-laws, Theresa Tocco, Charles and Mamie Altier, and Felix and Nora Tarkowski; and her nephew, William A. “Bill” Lucky, Jr. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Florence’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
