Felicia "Mamie" (LaBella) Rasi

Mrs. Felicia “Mamie” (LaBella) Rasi, age 97, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with the love of her son and family by her side. Born in Utica on April 23, 1917, Felicia was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Scotellaro) LaBella. She was raised and educated locally. On May 2, 1942 she married Angelo Rasi; during their 69 year union they had many blessings. Her beloved Angelo passed away on November 25, 2011. Mamie worked as an assembler at the General Electric Company/Broad Street location for many years. Her retirement afforded her the time to devote abundant attention to caring for her family. Mamie worked hard and lived a simple but successful life. She was blessed with a soft, quiet demeanor, ever-patient and even-tempered. Her fondest memories were made during the years spent in East Utica with her family and caring neighbors who were proud of their Italian heritage. The old homestead on Lansing Street was the foundation of all that they knew… “all about family”. She was proud to be a mom who focused not only on her son, but also on her dedication to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As she devoted time to the younger generations, she revitalized her maternal instinct and it was rewarding for her. She loved family holidays with all the homemade and traditional food, which was often the center of those events. During her spare time she knitted afghans, which are treasured tokens of her creativity. Socially, she remained close with her sorority sisters and enjoyed their company. She was a fine cook who prepared many Italian foods, and will be remembered for her delicious delicacies. She drew her strength from her Catholic religion, faithfully praying the rosary and when her health didn’t prohibit her, she attended Mass and novenas at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Mamie is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Dominick J. and Christine Rasi of New Hartford; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Paul Monescalchi , and Cheryl and Daiman Parinella; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren Tesak, Reese Parinella, twins Evan and Owen Parinella, Alexandra Monescalchi, and Elliana Parinella. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-laws, Agnes Rasi, and John A. Popeo. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Josephine LaBella, Rocco D. and Adelene LaBella, and Louis and Matilda LaBella; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Celeste “Stella” LaBella, Catherine M. and Michael A. Paciello, and Carmella and Octavio “Tom” Bevilacqua; and her in-laws, Amadeo and Irene Rasi, Thomas and Ann Rasi, Peter and Rose Rasi, George Rasi, Mary and Theodore “Teddy” Bertucco, Angelina and Charles LaBarbera, and Josephine Popeo. The family expresses their sincere thanks to Dr. Fred Talarico and his Nurse Practitioner Patricia Rosati; and the supportive and loving staff of the Woodgate Household at the Masonic Care Community, who cared for Mamie with much love and support. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10-11 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Masonic Care Community of CNY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mamie’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
