Estelle (Swiech) Boswell

Mrs. Estelle (Swiech) Boswell, age 88, a native Utican, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the St. Luke’s Home with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side. Estelle was born in Marcy, NY on March 22, 1924, the daughter of the late Mark and Agatha (Gladisiewicz) Swiech. She was raised and educated in Marcy and graduated from Whitesboro Central School. On July 25, 1953 she wed Hugh Edgar Boswell with whom she shared 57 years in a loving marriage prior to his passing on October 29, 2010. Estelle enjoyed an extensive career as an Account Clerk in the business office of the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, the position from which she retired in March 1979 after 34 years of service. Always devoted to her family and their many needs, Estelle was a caregiver by heart. She was always available to help her loved ones in need with loving care and home cooked meals. She loved caring for her “number one” granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth, who she considered her “pride and joy” and derived much happiness in times shared with her. She was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church. Estelle is survived by her daughter, Helen Boswell of Schuyler; and her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth E. Boswell. In addition, she leaves many nieces, nephews, with special mention of Dolores and Don Bach, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sisters-in-law, Joan Bailey of Keeseville, NY, and Jean Boswell of Woburn, MA. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Austin Peon, Sophie and John Hart, and Mary Swiech; her brothers and sister-in-law, John and Mary Swiech, Edward Swiech, and Joseph Swiech; her in-laws, James Boswell, Vincent and Marge Boswell, Veronica and Clarence Miner, Rita and John Downs, and Irene and Raymond Downs; her nieces, Frances Downs Dorr, and Adelle Rabideau; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hugh and Lillian Boswell. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the St. Luke’s Home for all the fine care offered to Estelle. Also, Dr. Nicholas Peters who was always available with genuine care and concern; Dr. Jerry Sloan, Estelle’s primary family physician, who provided excellent medical care and guidance on the many occasions that Estelle was hospitalized; Dr. George Schilling, surgeon, for his compassion and the many trips on weeknights and weekends to administer to Estelle at the St. Luke’s Home; Estelle’s neighbors and friends, Michael and Pat Hickey, David and Ruth Geary, Paula Eannace and Paul Lupia, Cathy and Denys Clem, and Vicki and Dick Pellegrino for their kindness and support to the Boswell family over the years. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Estelle’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 9:00 from the funeral home and at 10:00 at St. Mark’s Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery. “You suffered much, but still you accepted his teachings with the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit”.
