Emmanuel James "E. E." Spratt

Emmanuel James "E.E." Spratt, age 32, of Utica and Rome, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with his loving family by his side after injuries sustained in a childhood accident. Born in Utica on July 3, 1977, Emmanuel is the son of John and Dorothy “Ruthie” (Walker) Spratt. Raised and educated locally, he attended T. R. Proctor High School. During his youth and while on summer break from school, Emmanuel loved to work mechanically on cars. A special, strong, and unique individual, he lived every day to the fullest. Family was always his first priority, especially his son, who was the light of his life, and his loving nieces and nephews also added much excitement to his days. An adventurous, outgoing, jokester, he was goodhearted and left a warm impression on everyone he met. “E.E.” looked forward to celebrating his birthday every year with his family. He loved to travel, savor his favorite fare, fried chicken, at restaurants, and spend time on his computer playing card games. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys football fan. Emmanuel is survived by his parents, John “Coonboy” and Dorothy “Ruthie” Spratt; his son, Raheem “RaRa” Spratt; 3 sisters, Mae “Hellen” Spratt, Belissa “Mona” Isaacs, and Rebecca “Becky” Spratt; 7 brothers, John “Curt” Spratt, Jr., Jarrod “BaBa” Spratt, Anthony “Fluff” Spratt, Terry “Que” Spratt, Jason “Troop” Walker, Christopher “Quikk” Spratt, and Alexander “Wess” Spratt. He also leaves to mourn 15 nieces and nephews who he loved unconditionally; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, including Marcus "Stuffy" Reed, and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Ethel Mae and Harvey A. Ivey, Sr.; his aunts, Sadie Ann Reed, and Carrie Spratt; and his cousins, Derrick Reed, Daniel Watkins, Jr., Joshua Brown, Willie Morgan, and Sanilda Patterson. The family would like to thank the Walsh Complex of Rome, NY for the continuous love and care that they provided Emmanuel throughout the years, especially Brenda and Cheryl with whom he developed a special friendship. The family would like to thank you for all the love and support that you have shown Emmanuel as well as his family. He loved you, Brenda and Cheryl, with all his heart, and for that, you will always have a place in our family. Emmanuel had special friends and family who stayed by his side throughout his journey, and the family would like also to send special thanks to them: Eva McCall who gave him a reason to go on as long as he did, Rose Patterson "cousin Teddy", Florene Spratt "Aunt Donna", Benjamin Walker "Uncle Ben", Harvey Ivey "Uncle Fuzz", Rebecca Spratt "Becky", Virginia Watkins "Aunt Polly", James Walker "Uncle Jimmy", and Kelly Walker. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Emmanuel’s Home Going Celebration will commence on Friday morning at 11:00 at Greater Highway Deliverance Temple Church. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery.
