Donna Marie Williams

Donna Marie Williams, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with the love and support of her family by her side. Born in Utica on June 8, 1945, Donna was the daughter of the late Ralph and Betty (Manzinger) Centolella. Her education was gained through Utica Free Academy. Donna was fortunate to have met and shared many years with her best friend and companion, Pasquale “Pat” Caporale, Sr. until his passing on December 7, 2012. Donna conveyed an unconditional love to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Her life’s endeavor was tending to her family and being with them as life unfolded day to day. She imparted her views with concern and purpose and was never afraid to speak her mind with her children. At home, she “cooked for an army” and was always ready to share in her gracious and unique way. Her handmade crocheted treasures handed down to her loved ones will be held close to their hearts and evoke memories of her. Her recreational time included playing games of “pitch”, especially with her card partner, Liz Douglas. Her feline, Jax, had a special affection for her and she loved to cuddle with him. Donna was a believer, accepting of a higher power, and she had faith in a God of hope and peace. Donna is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kimmie DeSimone and Mike DelMedico, Leela and Dave Zammiello; and their father, William Sobel; her daughter Kelly Lynn and Victor Castronovo; her son, Ryan Williams and Christina Williams; her grandchildren, Frankie Jr., and Bianca DeSimone, and their father Frank DeSimone, Sr.; Carmen, and Joshua Gianotti; David, and Zack Zammiello; Victor and fiancée Brandi Lee Terado, Vito, and Vincenzo Castronovo; Ryan Jr., and Tyler Williams; and her great-grandson, Carter, who she affectionately referred to as “Mama”. She also is survived by her sister, Philomena Centolella; her godsons, David Talerico, and Dion Abraham; her goddaughter, Jennifer Schrader; many cousins, sharing a special relationship with Lynda, Cynthia, and Susan, as well as her good friend Donna Abraham. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Robittilli. The family is grateful to the nurses of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, Critical Care Unit, especially Kelly, for the personal and gentle care rendered to Donna as well as her family and friends; it will always be remembered. Thanks also to the Organ Donor team whose absolutely wonderful, gentle, sympathetic, and patient manner made the process more accepting. A Memorial gathering will be held in Donna’s honor on Saturday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Donna’s funeral service and Celebration of Life officiated by Celebrant Christine Abbass, who is also very close to the hearts of her family, will follow at 4:00 at the funeral home.
