Mr. Dominick T. "Dick" Padula

UTICA - Mr. Dominick T. “Dick” Padula, age 85, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Masonic Care Community of NY with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica in 1932, Dominick was the son of the late Nicholas and Pauline Padula. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Dick honorably served his country from 1952-1954. On May 5, 1954 he married the former Constance J. “Connie” Carbone with whom he shared a 56 year union prior to her passing on January 4, 2011. Dick had a career that spanned more than 40 years with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, and retired in 1996 as the Lieutenant in charge of the Civil Division. He got interested in photography as a young boy, and became an accomplished portrait and wedding photographer. With his wife and family, he was a regular communicant of Historic Old St. John’s Church. In later years, Dick and Connie enjoyed going to local restaurants, where they often became regulars, as well as friends with the owners and staff. Dominick is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Barbara Padula; and Barbara’s children, Alex Kuczala; Shelly and Louis Mitchell and their children Dominick and Lilliana. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and longtime friends Bette Hammer, and Maryann Moore. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Anna Carbone; and his sister-in-law, Theresa Carbone. The family is especially grateful to the staff of the Albany Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY for the compassionate care rendered to Dick during his stay. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dominick’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Friday morning at 10:00 at Historic Old St. John’s Church where his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. John Buehler with Military Honors conferred. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
