Domenica "Peggy" (Mozzetti) Loconti

Mrs. Domenica “Peggy” (Mozzetti) Loconti, age 90, of North Utica, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Utica on May 8, 1916, Peggy was the daughter of the late Sabatino and Mary (Pacifico) Mozzetti. She was raised and educated locally. In 1939 she married Vito Loconti, with whom she shared a union of 61 years prior to his passing on January 16, 2001. Peggy’s priority was her family and her home. She had a boundless devotion to her grandchildren and enjoyed family functions and festivities. Her capricious character enhanced family poker games and deemed her as the ‘life of the party’. She loved to dance and could be detected on the dance floor at all events. Peggy had a flair for entertaining and presenting well prepared meals for gatherings with family and friends. She also had a warm feeling for the beauty of nature and exhibited this love in her rock garden, which was accented by an array of flowers. In Peggy’s later years, when her health curtailed her from cultivating her garden, Hasiba tended to it with great tenderness. Mrs. Loconti is survived by her daughters, Vita Salerno, and Antoinette (Toni) Talerico, both of North Utica; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Nanette Loconti of Utica; her grandchildren, Debra Stern, Robert J. Salerno and Rose Wild, Michael C. Talerico, Traci A. and Matt Leonardo; Michael’s and Traci’s father, Nole Talerico; Daniel P. Loconti, and Kristen Loconti. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joseph D. Salerno, who passed away on September 3, 1994. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren, Danielle Stern, Jodi DiMarco, Joseph Salerno, and Matthew Carmen Leonardo; her sister, Helen Jonquil; her brothers and sister-in-law, Dominick Mozzetti, and James and Florence Mozzetti; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In addition, she leaves her in-laws, Rose Mozzetti, Theresa Mozzetti, Theresa Motto, Andrew and Dolores Loconti, Joseph Loconti, and Lois Loconti; and her longtime friend, Mary Olivadoti. She was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Anthony and Louise, Samuel, and John Mozzetti; her sister and brother-in-law, Angeline and Pompeo Delmonte; and her brother-in-law, Nicholas Jonquil. The family offers its sincere appreciation for the comfort and concern of her physician, Dr. Garg and his nurse, Arlene; for her outstanding caregivers, Rose, Hasiba, and Mirsada, who made it possible for Peggy to remain at home with great regard and love, and who became extended family members so dearly appreciated by her children. Visitation will be held today (Sunday) from 2-5 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Peggy’s honor to the Abraham House or the Thea Bowman House; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Loconti’s Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will commence at 5:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
