Dolores G. Paciello

Dolores G. Paciello, age 87, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on December 25, 1920, Dolores was the daughter of the late Girardo and Maria Guiseppe (Fiore). Raised and educated locally, she attended Utica Free Academy and T. R. Proctor High School. At one time, Dolores worked at Neisner’s Department Store as a clerk, the Boston Store as a bookkeeper, and at Utica Cutlery as a member of the office staff. A family oriented woman, she had a gracious heart and an open home. She was outgoing and fun-spirited, and she entertained with great style. A caretaker by nature, she watched over her mom, her siblings, and had a great affection for her nieces and nephews and their families. She was proud of the accomplishment of obtaining her driver’s license at mid-life, and because of her generous and gracious nature, her loved ones could depend on her for a ride or to borrow her car. During her more active years, she enjoyed the sport of bowling. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Dolores is survived by her sister, Marie “Timmy” Chiarello, with whom she shared a home. Aunt Del also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, and acknowledges Geraldine “Dina” and Joseph Russo, Jr. because of the special care and closeness they shared; great-nieces, and great-nephews including Joseph "Joey" Russo and Rene Geddes, Christopher Russo and Crystal Beckwitch; great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews Ashley, Danielle, Gabrielle, Michael, Joseph, Samantha, and Mason. Dolores held a special place in her heart for the members of the Tomassetti family especially acknowledging, Marilyn Sardina, and Jacqueline Farrell who she considered family. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Angeline Paciello, Christine and Thomas Fierro, and Theresa “Tessie” and Anthony Allocca; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel Paciello, Patsy and Stella Paciello, Rocco D. and Louise Paciello, Joseph and Helen Paciello, and Jerry A. and Lucy Paciello; and her godparents, Guiseppe and Daisy Tomassetti as well as their daughter, Virginia. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jennifer, and Luanna of the 3rd floor at the Loretto Utica Center, and the nurses and staff at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center. The kindness and compassion shared by all her caretakers was of such comfort to Dolores and her family. Visitation will be held Monday (today) from 5:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Dolores’ funeral service will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:30 from the funeral home and at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
