Dolores M. (Lewis) LoRusso

FRANKFORT - Dolores M. “Dee” LoRusso, age 87, passed peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 with those she loved most in her heart. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on March 2, 1933, Dolores was the daughter of the late David M. and Mary W. (Duggan) Lewis. She received her education in Pennsylvania and was a graduate of West Side Senior High/Class of 1951. As a housewife and loving caregiver, Dolores held the most beloved role of being a mom to three boys who adored her. She loved them individually and in perpetuity. She was always watching over their wellbeing from their youth to adulthood, and she passed her core values to them. Dolores had a photographic memory when it came to birthdays and special occasions, and she had a keen sense of awareness. She enjoyed a good game of cards, most memorably back in the day when she played every week with her best girlfriend, Pat Niznik, the game was always complimented by a dish of pasta, meatballs, …and long hot peppers! She also loved the excitement of Bingo at different venues. Dolores held a reverence for her religious relics, especially her Rosary beads which she recited daily. Her spirituality was one-on-one with the Lord. Dolores is survived by her three sons and their loves, John D. LoRusso and Diane Leavitt, Vincent J. Jr. and Bonnie LoRusso, and Anthony J. LoRusso and Linda Timian; her two grandsons, Vincent M. and Nicole LoRusso, and Christopher J. and Erica LoRusso; three great-grandchildren, Camryn, Quintin; and Regina LoRusso; and her brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Jo Lewis, and Gerald Lewis. She also leaves her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; the Patricia Niznik family who were a part of Dolores’ family for years; and her two kitty companions, “Mila” and Friskie. She was predeceased by her siblings, David, Mary, Ann, Claire, Rita, John, and Audrey. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dolores’ funeral service and Celebration of life which will commence on Thursday morning, March 4, 2021 at 11:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave., Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Face masks that cover both your nose and mouth are required, and social distancing and contact tracing will be implemented. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dolores' honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at www.stjude.org; envelopes will also be available at the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
