Mrs. Dolores A. "Dee" (Serianni) Loconti

NEW HARTFORD - Mrs. Dolores A. “Dee” (Serianni) Loconti went home to the Lord when she passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the St. Luke’s Home with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica, Dolores was the daughter of the late Santo and Margaret (Scalzo) Serianni. She was raised and educated locally. A remarkably longtime friendship was the basis to a wonderful marriage to Andrew D. “Andy” Loconti that was blessed on April 28, 2003. They shared in common interests and enjoyed a lifetime together that were fulfilling and wonderful years. Her beloved Andy passed away on December 3, 2007. Dee was a seasoned waitress, a career that began at a young age when she catered to people in area restaurants. She was a character, always in charge and in control of every challenge that cropped up in the course of a day’s work. The restaurants most notable in her memory were Grimaldi’s, The Diplomat, and Alfredo’s Restaurant, where she formed personal friendships with many fine employers who were considered family including Fred Grimaldi Sr., Fred Grimaldi Jr., Dick Graniero, and Tom DeSimone. She was affectionately nicknamed Diesel for the energy and fuel she brought to a workday. Numerous area patrons, past and present would remember Dee hosting and serving them dinner in her own unique style. Whether she was at work or at home, Dee had a generous heart and a good will. She had an open door to her family and she looked upon her nieces and nephews as her own. Dee made judgment calls on people… sometimes incorrectly or spontaneously, but her humor got her out of the moment and back into people’s hearts. She was confident, committed to her work, and a proud product of her era. When she loved, she loved deeply and genuinely. She traveled with her friends, Pat, Elaine, and Antoinette to various casinos which was one of her favorite past times. At a period of time she enjoyed the sport of golf. She followed the NY Yankees each year and was competent in conversing about the performance of the athletes. She loved to dine out and in more recent years the Boulevard Diner was her favorite eatery because she loved the specials. Dee vacationed in Florida in winter and spent time in Las Vegas with her beloved Andy. Her family admired her devotion to Andy during his last years as she cared for him —- and their love prevailed. She was a part of all family holiday festivities that featured delicious food, loud conversations (the norm in Italian households), and loads of future memories. Dee was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. She was renewed by Mass and scheduled prayers every year in remembrance of her deceased family members. Dolores is survived by her sister, Marion Gauris; and her nieces and nephews, Samuel and Susan Serianni, Martin and Judy Serianni, Sharon Serianni, Laurie and Ralph Lupia, Patty and Mike Gibson, Elaine and Bill Brunet, Thomas and Miriam Presite, Ron and Debbie Presite, Walter and Cathy Flansburg, David Flansburg, their families, a generation that followed, and a host of cousins. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Carmen and Edith Serianni; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and Rocco Presite, Viola and Walter Flansburg, and Adolph Gauris. The family is grateful to Dr. Steven Lagrant, and Dr. Antonovich, physicians who played an integral part in Dee’s care; the staffs of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, and the St. Luke’s Home who were outstanding and respectful to Dee as well as her family; and Palliative Care physician Dr. Liselle Alfaro-Berg who made Dee’s final journey as peaceful as possible. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request please omit flowers. Dolores’ funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
