Dinasia M. Murray

UTICA - Dinasia M. Murray, age 20, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 14, 2019 as a result of injuries sustained in a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident. Born in Brooklyn on August 28, 1999, Dinasia was the daughter of Dinah Rivera and the late Edward Murray. Raised and educated locally, she attended the Neighborhood Center as a toddler, loved her Albany Street Elementary School, and Donovan Middle School. Her secondary education was through New Hartford High School where she also completed a BOCES Program in Culinary Arts, graduating in 2016. A very responsible young woman with an outstanding work ethic, Dinasia was employed by various area businesses including the Creekside Cafe Ice Cream parlor, Forever 21, and A Moveable Feast Catering service in the food prep area that Dinasia said was a “dream-come-true job” working alongside her mom. Currently, she worked at the Rainbow Shops clothing store on Mohawk Street. From the moment she came into the world, Dinasia was an angel to her family, and she grew to be smart, respectful, and independent. She focused on things that can’t be bought, like joy and fulfillment. She worked for everything she acquired, and accepted her mother’s advice and loving guidance. She had a peppy personality and was Miss Sass when she walked into a room, her body language announcing “Hey, it’s me! The Princess is here!” She enjoyed listening to a vast array of music, was a dancing machine, had a ton of friends, was the life of the party, and dearly loved her sister Ritza who was not only her sister but her “road dog” and Best friend. She was also known as “La Comelona”, and for those who don’t know the meaning, “She could eat everything” and not gain a pound. As everyone knew, part of Dinasia’s personality could win the hearts of every baby she held in her arms, and the admiration of her elders because she was respectful. She was a classy young lady. If her life had not been taken so early, she would have loved to continue to travel because she wanted to see all of what life had to offer with style. She was spiritual, had great intuition, and was an empath. When Dinasia entered a room, she brought her smile, laughter, and positive energy. She was the sunlight that brightened every place she entered. And she was LOVE. Dinasia is survived by her mom Dinah Rivera and her Dad, Joe-Nathan Minor. To her mom she was her “mini-me”, and from Joe she received fatherly love and guidance. She will be forever missed by her siblings, Yeritssa “Nena” Padilla, (her niece Ja’Lee “Suga” who was her “baby” and through whom she will live on; and the memory of her nephew Sonny Amar’e Elliott); Destiny Garcia and fiancé Andre; John Rivera, and his two girls Aviana and Janella; Donovan Rivera and his son Donovan “DJ”; Joe-Nathan Minor; Desmond Harris and his son Desmond “Dex” Jr.; Aubry Harris; and Aniya and Corey Pack and their two daughters Avery, and Cali; aunts and uncles, great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins, godparents, Tyeshea Butler, and Shane McCroy, and the late John Rivera; her god-brothers and god-sisters; and her forever friends, Mariah, Akua, Marian, Jackie, Lexi, Ari, LeeAira, India, Justine, and a ton of others! She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ruben and Maria Rivera. The family is grateful to the community of Utica and New Hartford, their family and dear friends who have blessed and comforted Dinasia’s family. Their support assured that Dinasia’s life truly mattered and will live on through those who loved her. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:30-4:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Dinasia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 with Fr. Luis who baptized her officiating the ceremony.
