Mrs. Diane M. (Cavoli) Gaetano

UTICA - Mrs. Diane M. (Cavoli) Gaetano, age 82, of Utica, went Home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2023. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her passing. Born in Utica on August 6, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Marion (Goff) Cavoli. She was raised in Utica, attending local schools. She was a graduate of UFA and then furthered her studies by attending CIA Culinary School in Poughkeepsie, NY. On January 4, 1961, Diane was wed to Anthony J. Gaetano. The couple shared in a loving and beautiful union blessed with true devotion and love for one another. They created a home filled with family traditions and long-lasting memories. Diane held a supervisor position in the Dietary Aide Department at the Utica Psychiatric Center for many years, until her retirement. She had a beautiful and loving heart and was an exceptional wife and mother. Diane cared for her home meticulously and was an excellent cook and baker; she enjoyed sharing her delicacies with her loved ones. Blessed with a green thumb, she produced beautiful flowers and a plentiful garden. An avid NY Mets fan, she loved to tune in to watch the games. The highlight of her week was attending Mass with her husband. She was very spiritual and was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Diane is survived by her husband, Anthony J.; and her children, Valerie Ann Gaetano and Christian Garramone, Michelle Ann Gaetano, and Anthony M. Gaetano; her grandchildren, Samantha and Geoff Orlowski, Thomas III and Julia Maher, Nicholas Maher, and Jonathan Maher; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Nathan. Diane is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Ritz, Gerald and MaryAnn Cavoli, Donald and Sue Cavoli and Richard and Diane Cavoli. She cherished in her heart the memory of her sisters and brothers that have passed, Jeannette and her husband, Angelo Scarfino, Theresa Cox, Carl Cavoli, John Cavoli, Robert “Bob” Cavoli and Joe Cavoli. Also surviving are her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and in-laws, Rosaly Cavoli and Rose Circelli. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Abraham House for their warm hearts and excellent care. The family will honor her life in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, 648 Jay Street, Utica. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
