Mr. David G. Gerrer

UTICA - Mr. David G. Gerrer, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 19, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Utica on February 7, 1963, David was the son of the late Bernard and Carmelita (Salerno) Gerrer. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1983. In 1988 he met the love of his life, Pamela Hughes, and they shared their hearts for over 30 years. David was a construction worker for the Laborers Local #35. He was a loving and respectful spouse to his wife, and they embraced each other’s lives and dreams. Above all, he was a family man, and he honored traditional values. He always sat with his loved ones at dinner, and spent quality time with each of them. David was extremely proud of his daughter and her accomplishments, he cherished all of their specials times shared together. David was always upbeat and happy, with an easy swagger in his step. He was a member of the “Camp Cold One”, composed of his hunting and camping buddies. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and a member of the Deerfield Fish & Game Club. He spent time year round snow skiing and water skiing, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed the time he spent at Piseco Lake. David is survived by his wife Pam; his daughter, Shelbey Lynn Gerrer and fiancé Mark Spiridigliozzi of Deerfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Duamel DeTraglia of Syracuse; his brothers and sister-in-law, Bernard Gerrer of Ballston Lake, NY, and Craig and Maria Gerrer of Utica. He also leaves his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, in-laws, Sandra and Russell Cooley, Sherry Hughes and Anthony Gazzal, Michael and Christine Hughes; and many special friends. He also loved his canine companions, Hudson, and Molly. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Donna M. Gerrer; and his in-laws, Ted and Louise Hughes. The family extends their gratitude to the Deerfield Fire Department and assisting EMT’s for their professionalism and compassion. By family request please omit floral offerings. The family will accept donations in his memory so that they may honor David at a later time; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial gathering which will be held on Saturday from 3:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. David’s memorial service and Celebration of Life will commence at 6:00 immediately upon conclusion of the gathering, with Pastor David Ossenfort officiating the ceremony.
