Mr. Daniel "Danny" Guzman

UTICA – Mr. Daniel “Danny” Guzman, age 57, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort and dignity of his home on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Born in Utica on June 4, 1966, Daniel was the son of Eloida “Loida” (Gonzalez) Guzman and the late Angel Miguel “Cirilo” Guzman. He attended T.R. Proctor High School. At one time, Danny shared a very special relationship with Renee Nelson, which brought the blessing of their daughter, Danielle. At a later time Michelle Iannone entered his heart and life, and his two sons, Jeremy, and Nicholas, were welcomed to the family. Daniel was later united in marriage to Angela Graziano. Daniel began his working career as a telemarketer. He then held numerous positions locally throughout Utica in construction and asbestos removal. In recent years, he enjoyed working alongside his son, Jeremy, in the landscaping field. In his younger years, Daniel was a remarkable athlete, excelling in baseball. He was gifted with a tremendous curveball, speed, and extraordinary strength. Danny also was a talented fighter who trained daily at the gym and was not to be taken lightly or messed with! Ever one to stay active, Daniel ran the Boilermaker faithfully, even following his cancer diagnosis. Daniel is remembered as someone who would give you his heart, upmost respect, and would love you until the very end. He was a proud family man, especially of his children. He imprinted his “drive” on his children encouraging them to achieve the almost impossible. Additionally, Danny was a man of wisdom and lived by his motto, “You have to be young and dumb, before you can grow old and wise.” Daniel loved music and was an avid Rolling Stones fan. He would attend live concerts of his favorite bands whenever he could. A man of routine and an artistic nature, everyday Daniel painted his rocks and adored his collection. Danny was a man of great faith and attended Redeemer Church on Sunday weekly with his mother. Daniel is survived by his loving mother, Eloida; three beautiful children and their loves; Danielle C. Guzman, Nicholas D. Guzman, and Jeremy G. Guzman and fiancée, Brianna Gerling; his adored grandchildren, Angel Guzman, Marie Guzman, Nicholas Guzman, Jr., and Ezlynn Guzman; and his brother, David Guzman. He cherished in his heart the memory of his brother, Gilbert “Beebo” Guzman, who preceded him on July 30, 1994. He also leaves to cherish his memory many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and a host of many friends, especially Ernie Montanez, Joe Mazza, Ron Moccaldi, Jim Ruggiero, Randy Crouse, Ricky Crouse and the Crouse family, Andre Washington, Pop DeLoach, Jose Centeno, Jesus “Chu” Centeno, Tony Joseph, the Gurascio family, and Richard Cortes. He was additionally predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Natividad and Felicia (Miranda) Guzman; and his maternal grandparents, Pearo and Antonia (Davilla) Gonzalez. The family would like to express a special thank you to Bernice Velez, and Officer James Giruzzi, UPD for showing such kindness and compassion. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Daniel’s Celebration of Life which will commence at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
