Mr. Clifford A. Jurkowski I.

Mr. Clifford A. “Cliff” Jurkowski, I., age 79, of Barneveld, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 in the comfort of his home with his loved ones by his side. Born in Utica on August 5, 1931, Clifford was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Schnecberg) Jurkowski. He was raised in Utica and graduated from Utica Free Academy. In 1993 he married the former Rose M.J. Sheppard with whom he shared a loving and devoted union. Cliff was blessed with a strong work ethic. He began at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company where he worked for 34 years. He subsequently took a position at the Rome Cable Corporation, and later held employment as a security guard at the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute. He was a gentle, caring, considerate man, one who made great efforts to help or lend support when someone was in need. He enjoyed his trips to Alexandria Bay and Canada, and he was an avid bowler. He was a communicant of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Cliff is survived by his wife, Rose; and his daughters and son-in-law, Debbie and Edmund Smith of West Hills, CA, and Audrey. He cherished in his heart the memory of his daughter, Kathy Ann, who preceded him in death. He also leaves his step-daughters, Theresa and Raymond Wells, Cynthia Meenan, Ida and Robert Bonanza, Sr., and Kathleen and Frank Zammiello, all of Utica. He also cherished in his heart the memory of his son, Clifford Arnold Jurkowski, II, who passed away on December 21, 1996. In addition, he leaves his step-sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Lynda Cooper, Bernard H., Jr. and Kathleen Meenan, Kevin Meenan, and Donald H. “Joe” Meenan, all of Utica. Suvivors also include numerous grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Haynie Jurkowski of SC; sister, Jeanne Jurkowski of Utica; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Michelle Jurkowski of Hyde Park, NY, and Rita Jurkowski of Utica. He was also favored with many devoted and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Rudy Gawron, and Judy McCale; and his brothers, Alfred Jurkowski, and Thomas Jurkowski. The family extends sincere appreciation to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., Dr. Amy Gorczynski, and the nurses and staff 2W of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for the highest level of care and compassion rendered to Cliff. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Stevens Swan Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association, in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Cliff’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in North Gage Cemetery in Barneveld at the convenience of the family.
