Mrs. Clara (Massa) Robilotta

Mrs. Clara (Massa) Robilotta, age 90, of New Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her family by her side. Born in Utica on July 7, 1922, Clara was the daughter of the late Dominick and Corlinda (Napoli) Massa. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On June 19, 1948, she married Frank J. Robilotta, Sr. with whom she shared nearly a half-century of her life. Her beloved Frank passed away on June 15, 1998. Clara was employed by the Oneida County Department of Motor Vehicles for 30 years. Whether at home, work, or leisure, Clara provided good company to family, and friends. She was a deeply devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the typical things of a gal of her era, especially baking and cooking. She honored her family and friendships whether it was through joining clubs, attending functions, or gathering with loved ones which were treasured times for her. She was a member of the Nu Sigma Psi Sorority since she was in the 8th grade. In her later years, she was enamored by the New York Yankees, and always caught their games on television. Clara is survived by her daughter, Donna Kapes and her husband Joe Langlois of New Hartford; her son, Frank J. Robilotta, Jr. and his wife Lin Sanford of Longwood, FL; her grandchildren, Tracey Robilotta and fiancé Jason Hausknecht, Dominick Robilotta, and Courtney Kapes and fiancé Keelan Lewis; and her great-grandchild Camren Davis. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, brother-in-law John Papaleo of Utica, her sorority sisters Millie Fausto, Millie Tucci, and Rose Colicci; and her dear friends Judi Cesere, and Theresa Chowalek. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Donald Kapes; her brother, Dominick Massa; and her in-laws Katherine and Simon Betrus Elhage, Carmen and Ann Robilotta, and Teresa Papaleo. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clara’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday morning at 10:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Paul Drobin. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness in lieu of flowers may make a donation to the Women’s Fund of Herkimer & Oneida Counties or the Frank J. Robilotta Scholarship Fund at Utica College; envelopes will be available at the service. Entombment will take place in Calvary Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
