Mr. Charles R. "Chuck" Carr II

Mr. Charles R. “Chuck” Carr, II, age 84, of Jefferson Avenue in Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Charles was born in Utica on November 25, 1927, the son of the late Charles R. and Ethel Carr. He was raised locally and attended Utica Free Academy. He then honorably served his country in the United States Army. On October 3, 1953 he married the former Janet Kowiatek with whom he shared 58 years. Chuck worked for the New York Central Railroad as a Telephone/Telegraph Lineman. As a husband and father, he was always there to support, guide, and love his family unconditionally. One of his greatest joys was to be with his grandkids. He enjoyed family trips to the St. Lawrence and in later years, to his son’s camp on the River, where loved ones gathered and created many great memories together. In his younger days, Chuck was an avid bowler and softball player. He was a member of the American Legion and former Vice Commander of Adrean Post #625. Chuck is survived by his wife, Janet; his sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Patty Carr of Utica, Rick Carr of Canastota, and Roger and Jennifer Carr of Wyoming, MN; his grandchildren, Charles Carr IV, and Shawna Carr both of Utica; Matthew Carr of Canastota; and Ryan, Taylor, Meghan, and Melissa Carr of MN; and his great-granddaughter, Payton Rose Carr of Utica. In addition, he leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, William and Mary Ellen Kowiatek, and Bernice and Harry Kaelin with whom Chuck and Janet shared many great times. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Al and Betty Carr, and Leonard and Dorothy Carr. The family is grateful to Dr. Stephen Lauterbach and the staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Intensive Care Unit for the compassionate care, and genuine concern. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Chuck’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Saturday morning at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where his Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be offered by Rev. Anthony P. LaFache and concelebrated by Msgr. Willenburg. Chuck will be laid to rest at a private gathering.
