Mrs. Carmelita V. (Notarianni) Marangi

Mrs. Carmelita V. (Notarianni) Marangi, age 77, formerly of New Hartford and currently a resident of The Pines at Utica, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her loving son by her side. Born in Utica on January 4, 1933, Carmelita was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Greco) Notarianni. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of T. R. Proctor High School. She also attended White Plains Community College where she earned her credentials as a laboratory technician. In February of 1968 she married Jerry A. Marangi with whom she shared 36 years prior to his passing on October 31, 2004. Carmelita and Jerry were blessed in their marriage; they loved each other and knew much happiness through the years. During her career as a lab technician, Carmelita held positions at both Faxton Hospital and St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital. As a loving wife and mother, she taught her son about the world and life, and was always there for him with love, concern, and compassion. She took pride in caring for her entire family. She was also involved in the operation of the family concern, Marangi’s Italian Delicatessen located at one time at Nichols and Blandina Streets, and more recently on Commercial Drive. She derived pleasure from travelling to New York City, Long Island, and Florida with her family, and also enjoyed her house in Boca Raton, Florida even as she continued to cheer for her favorite team, the NY Yankees. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Carmelita is survived by her son, Dominic T. “Nicky” Marangi of New Hartford; and her grandson, Gino L. Marangi. Survivors also include her sister, Kathleen Joseph of Utica; and her brothers and sister-in-law, James and Ann Notarianni of Utica, and Frank Notarianni of FL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; her son Dominic’s special friend, Mary Dosztan; family friends, Ron Menezes, and Clayton and Rea Farral; and her beloved canine companion, Duke. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Anil Patel, and the 3rd floor staff at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center for the care and professionalism rendered to Carmelita. Visitation will be held Monday (today) from 4:00-7:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Carmelita’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from the funeral home and at 10:30 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
