Mrs. Carmel "Dolly" (Coriale) Martucci

Mrs. Carmel “Dolly” (Coriale) Martucci, of Utica, passed away peacefully, although unexpectedly, on Monday, March 21, 2016. Born in Utica, Carmel was the daughter of the late Dominick and Maria (Gioia) Coriale. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. Dolly was wed to Vito R. Martucci who passed away in October of 2003; they shared in a dedicated marriage as well as a lifelong professional partnership. Dolly’s father, Dominick, was the original founder of Coriale Flowers first located on lower Mohawk Street. She joined the family business at a very young age, and upon her marriage to Vito, he united with her in the acquisition and management of the establishment. Together they built the current location at 1021 Mohawk Street which proved to be a premium site. Dolly was truly dedicated to her business for many decades, and shortly after Vito’s passing, she entrusted the business concern to her loyal and longtime “son”, Tino Poccia. Dolly worked up until her very last day… She was a humble woman and the heart of her career was carrying on her father’s legacy and becoming a successful businesswoman. She succeeded in that vision —- she would have been one of the recipients of the 2016 Women-of-the-Year Award that was to be presented on Tuesday, March 22nd through New York State Women, Inc. Dolly was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish and a member of the Christ Child Society, a devotion she shared with her late sisters. Carmel is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carol and Henry Veit, and Anthony and Barbara Martino; Charles and Christine Ricci, Dr. Peter Ricci, Dr. Michael and Angela Ricci; Joey and Rich Failla, Darlene Manley; Coryelle Kramer; her nieces and nephews of her late husband, Vito Martucci’s, family; and her great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was blessed with many friends, especially the “club girls”, as well as throngs of patrons throughout the years. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa and John Marcantonio, Rose L. Coriale, Fenita A. and Chester Martino, Antoinette and Charles Ricci, and Maria Banks; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Pat Coreyale, and Lieut. Francis and Josephine Coriale; her niece, Linda Ricci; nephew, Dr. Richard Coriale; and in-laws, Josephine R. and Joseph A. Verno, Rocco and Carmella Martucci, Mary and Frank Rizzo, and Isabel and Joseph Mungari. The family extends sincere thanks to Mary Pelli Maggio, Jody Martucci, Colleen Levesque, and Donna Rosado who graced the later years of Dolly’s life with love and companionship; her family is truly grateful for that gift. They will also hold precious her many coworkers at Coriale’s, especially the years she spent with her niece, Sandra Mungari. The family will gather privately to commemorate Carmel’s life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday at 12:00 noon at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. James Cesta. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Those wishing to express an act of kindness may make a donation in her name to the Christ Child Society of Utica; envelopes will be available at the service. Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family.
