Mr. Caleb A. McLean, Sr.

Mr. Caleb A. McLean, Sr. age 21, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Born in Utica on April 13, 1995, Caleb was the son of Robert L. McLean and Rachael Yarchuk. He attended J.F. Hughes Elementary School and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 2013. He participated in the Summer Youth Employment Program where he worked in construction at the Utica Zoo. He also attended Monroe County Community College. Caleb began a high school relationship and shared a parenting with Arnise Moore. The birth of their son was a blessing to their love. Caleb was currently employed at the Smith Packing Company as a stock person. He put his heart and soul into all his work endeavors. He had a sensational smile, a sparkling set of teeth, and a super sense of humor. Caleb had an innate desire to guide others and inspire them to appreciate life. Although he was playful and joyful in his actions, he was loving and determined to do things well. He was also protective of his siblings. But above all else, Caleb created a beautiful bond with his son and watched over him. He was a great dad. Caleb was a loving, non-judgmental, spirited young man who felt blessed to have a family and fortunate to have trusted friends. He enjoyed Thanksgiving as a time to share food, watch football, talk nonsense, and have fun. His interests included working out at Planet Fitness, playing xbox, watching movies (Lord of the Rings was his favorite), being outdoors. He appreciated the sport of hunting, although he never got the opportunity to participate in a season. All will remember his unparalleled love for the Philadelphia Eagles. Caleb practiced his love of the Lord at Hope Chapel. Caleb is survived by his loving partner and mother of his child, Arnise; his beloved son, Caleb Austin, Jr.; his mother Rachael Yarchuk Carter, his father & step mother, Robert McLean and Valerie Ziemba; and his siblings, Eliajah, Paris, Mariah, Morganne, Makinlee, Bryce, and Xavier and his foster brother Terrell Black. He also leaves his nieces, Peyton, and Leah; his grandmothers, Susan Smith, and Winifred Daniels; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He was blessed with loyal friends, notably Brett Marvin who was godfather to his son, Caleb, Jr. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Patricia Lee, Robert Daniels; and David A. Yarchuk; and his foster-sister, Summer Heilinger. Visitation will be held Sunday from 11:00-1:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. In lieu of floral offerings, for those wishing, please consider a donation made to the family enabling them to establish an education fund for Caleb, Jr.; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Caleb’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Deacon Mark Robbins, Caleb’s great-uncle, officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
