Mr. Brian D. Finnerty

Mr. Brian D. Finnerty, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side. Born in Denville, New Jersey on August 3, 1948, Brian was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn (Booker) Finnerty. Raised and educated in New Jersey, he relocated to New Hartford where he graduated from New Hartford High School. He continued his education at SUNY Oswego receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics and furthered his studies in the Insurance industry. On July 24, 1987 he was married to Johanna Gulisano; theirs was a bond of joy and happiness built upon mutual love and respect. Brian applied his cumulative knowledge of the indemnity industry during the years he worked as a Senior Claims Examiner for Frontier Insurance, retiring in 2002. He was generous and loving to everyone in his life, and he was blessed with a humorous and clever mindset. He read many books and magazines from cover to cover which fetched him myriad facts and a wealth of knowledge. Brian was also a movie buff, bolstering his appreciation by taking classes at MVILR. He was a member of the NRHS, the Oneida County Historical Society, and the Sussex Historical Military Aircraft Society. He attended the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Brian is survived by his wife, Johanna; his sister and brother-in-law, Diedra and Peter Force of GA; his brothers and sister-in-law, Rory Finnerty of GA, and Brendon and Becky Finnerty of Fayetteville, NY; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Ann Marie and Craig Carr of Forestport, and Anthony Gulisano of Utica; his canine and feline companions, and his many dear and cherished friends. He was predeceased by his in-laws Samuel and Jennie Gulisano. Johanna is grateful to the First Responders for their immediate and timely response to the emergency situation. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10-11 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc. 932 South St. corner of Hammond Ave. Brian’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday morning at 11:00 from the funeral home and at 12:00 noon at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where his Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. Expressions of sympathy in the form of donations may be made to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society, the Rescue Mission, or the Community Food Bank of Utica, in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
