Mr. Bobby L. Huddleston

UTICA- On Saturday, July 16, 2022, Bobby L. Huddleston, age 94, was reunited with his son in Heaven. At the time of his passing, his wife, his nieces Gina and Karen, and his brother-in-law Chuck were by his side. Bobby was born on May 1, 1928 in Abilene, Texas and was raised and educated in the Lone Star State. During World War II, Bobby served in the Army Air Force, stationed in Germany, and lastly at Griffiss Air Force Base until his discharge. For 40 years, he fully shared his heart with the former Debra Janicke. On May 1, 2006, they fully blessed their relationship by marrying – on Bobby’s birthday, to make the occasion even more special! Theirs was a true love. They devotedly watched over each other during the best of times, but especially during the times when illness became a part of their lives. It was a union that was meant to be. For many years, Bobby was the proprietor of the Roustabout Bar on Columbia Street which he enjoyed having his son Bobby with him until his passing in 1989. His family members Sonja, Chuckie, and Troy were also his cherished employees. Bobby was a remarkably unselfish man who loved being a father so very much. When his son needed a kidney in 1982, there was absolutely no question that he would be the one to donate his kidney for his son’s wellbeing. During his life Bobby garnered such joy from attending family get-togethers at his nieces Gina and Karen’s home. It was as recent as June 30th of this year that they hold the precious memory of watching Bobby relax on the deck and taking in that good day. Lexi and Kylie, the girl’s felines were usually alongside him on the deck enjoying his company. Bobby and Debra were so very close in all ways, their hearts truly intertwined. Bobby spent each day filled with extraordinary love from Debbie. The two depended upon each other and always tried to please one another. Bobby was a genuine, kind-hearted gentleman, who will be missed by those he leaves behind. Bobby is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Debbie. He always kept in his heart the memory of his son, Robert J. Huddleston, who preceded him on September 11, 1989. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and John Staulcup; as well, he was preceded by several siblings. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and his in-laws, Shirley, Diane, Chuck, Peter, and Tommy. His memory will be cherished by his special friends, Kim, who always had a baked treat for Bobby, Sonia, Gordon, and Dan Mecca; and a dear friend, Steve Schmitt, who was always there to share a Johnnie Walker Blue, always with an extra splash that Debbie wasn’t to know about. The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles Eldredge, a devoted physician whom Bobby appreciated, as well as his nurses Desiree and Stacy who good-naturedly teased him about his shots needle (lol). Gratitude is also extended to Dr. Ronald Kaye and Nurse Marge. Bobby had many special times with his friends at the NY Mills Senior Center Apartments, including Sandy with his Wednesday meals, and goodies with Rosalie. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bobby’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart and Saint Mary’s Church, 201 Main St., NY Mills with Military Honors conferred. There will be an opportunity to greet the family after the service. By family request please omit floral offerings. “Love you Bobby, until we meet again.”
