Baby Nicholas Joseph "Nico" Zimmerman

FRANKFORT – Baby Nicholas Joseph “Nico” Zimmerman, age one month and 19 days, went to be with the angels on Friday, February 17, 2023. At the time of his passing to eternity, he was cradled in the loving arms of his mom and dad. Nico was born a fighter on Thursday, December 29, 2022, and was an absolute wonder to his parents. He has a sweet soul and left both precious memories and a beautiful inspiration to his family. His parents loved him a “bushel and a peck.” Even though he was so small, his strength shone through and helped him overcome so many hurdles in his brief life. Had he stayed on earth longer, it was obvious he would have been a great leader. This little angel was baptized and confirmed, with the confirmation name Dominick, securing a high place in heaven for him. Nico leaves behind his Daddy and Mommy, Matt and Marisa; and his beloved older brother, Marc Calvin Zimmerman, who was so excited to love him and called him his “Nico Baby.” He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Joseph “Joe” and Mary Jo (Arcuri) Manno; his paternal grandparents, Mark and Wendy (Clute) Zimmerman; and paternal great-grandmother, Grace Clute. He knew the love and prayers of his aunts and uncles, Marc Manno, Renee and Tony Brockhum, and Jared Zimmerman; his great-aunts and great-uncles, Dona and Tom Dawes, Filomena Salsbury and her late husband Thomas, Michael and Christine Manno, John and Rose Clute, Robert and Karen Olsen, David and Gail Stahl, Wayne and Robin Zimmerman; great-great-aunt, Betty Arcuri; many cousins who were so invested in Nico’s journey; and his godparents, Katherine and Dominick Dawes. Nico will be welcomed into heaven by his maternal great-grandparents, Dominick A. and Filomena “Fanny” (Cherry) Cerasi Arcuri, and Rosina Manno; and his paternal great-grandparents, Clarence Clute, and Calvin and Irene Zimmerman. It truly takes a village and the family wishes to extend their eternal gratitude to the professionals who cared for Nico. Neonatologists Dr. Bonnie L. Marr, Dr. Susana A. Arriagada, and the Crouse Hospital Neonatal Unit nurses and staff for their incredible, compassionate care, especially nurses Melissa Cefaliello, Brittany Grabiec, Montana Smith, Janice Coon, and Jennifer Savage; Respiratory Therapists, Nicholas, and Todd; and surgeon, Dr. Jennifer Stranger from Upstate Hospital, whose forethought and follow up were remarkably comforting. The family will pay tribute to Nico’s life at a private time.
