Mrs. Anne L. (Julian) Baran

UTICA- Mrs. Anne L. (Julian) Baran passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the age of 97. Anne was born in Utica on April 14, 1925, to the late John J. and Sarah S. (Kowal) Julian. She was raised and educated in Utica, and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On May 9, 1953, Anne married Henry A. “Hank” Baran, with whom she shared nearly 52 years prior to his passing on April 29, 2005. Anne worked for Utica Cutlery for a brief time before going to work for General Electric Company from which she retired after 30 years of service. Anne was a great baker. Her specialists were chocolate pusties, NY style cheesecakes, blueberry cobbler and many more. She was a loving wife and mother, always devoted to their needs. She possessed a warm and loving heart. She took great pride in her home, constantly decorating and redecorating. She loved flowers and gardening. She was a great knitter who loved sharing creations with her family. Anne also loved to go antiquing with her sister-in-law, Dorothy. A spiritually devoted catholic, Anne was a faithful parishioner at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. Anne is survived by her beloved son, David Baran; and sister, Joyce Julian-Byers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Shelley Nelson and her husband Craig, and Janine Julian and her wife Susan Filippone. She also leaves many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Dorothy Julian; sister, Dorothy Moser; brother-in-law, Wayne Byers; Henry's siblings and their spouses; and her nephews, John Julian, Walter Krecidlo, and Terry Mullin. Anne’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Forestport Neighborhood staff at the Masonic Care Community of NY their loving care and compassion. In keeping with Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Anne’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary, Mother of our Savior Parish, Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee Street. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
