Anna L. (LoGalbo) Matti

Mrs. Anna L. (LoGalbo) Matti, age 90, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center with her family by her side. Born in Buffalo, NY on December 27, 1915, Anna was the daughter of the late Philip and Angeline (Paladino) LoGalbo. As a young girl, she relocated to the Utica area and was raised and educated here. In November 1933, she was married to Frank Matti, with whom she shared 53 years prior to his passing in 1986. During her working years, Mrs. Matti was employed by the General Electric Co. at the Bleecker St. and French Rd. locations; the Dunlop Tire Co.; and lastly, the Masonic Home in the dietary dept. During the 90 years of her life, she skillfully balanced the responsibilities of family years as well as understood the progressive ways of today. She enjoyed her employment contact with co-workers, and in her later years, she was blessed with a beautiful relationship with her grandchildren. Anna was meticulous in her home and in her appearance, and she possessed great strength of character. She had accomplished a degree of independence, and was proud of the fact that she drove a vehicle. During her leisure time, she took pleasure in crocheting, dancing, and bingo. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Anna is survived by her daughters, Louise “Cookie” Fluty of Utica, and Joanne and Bill Elia of Florida; she was predeceased by her son, Frank J. Matti, and by her son-in-law, George F. Fluty. Also surviving are her numerous grandchildren, including Frank & Vivian Matti of Red Rock, TX, Donna and Rodney Baker of Deerfield, Karen and Joseph LaPort of SC, Diane and Michael Massey of TN, Lisa and Joaquin Alvarez of FL, Tammy Elia of FL, and Todd and Lisa Elia of Middletown, NY. Always remembered in her heart is her grandson, Michael J. Fluty, who predeceased her. She also leaves numerous great-grandchildren, including Chastity and Clayton Kolb; Michelle Baker and her fiance, Keith Dyer; Tyler Connolly; Ryan, Michael, and Justin Gonzales; Megan and Erica Massey; Danielle and Diego Alvarez; and Collin and Carson Elia. Born to a family of 8 siblings, Anna is survived by her sisters, Frances Loiero, and Angie and Felix Coiro. Her extended family includes her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. The family offers its heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center 4th floor for their kindness and concern. In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mrs. Matti’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday afternoon at 1:00 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family.
