Mrs. Anna R. (DiOrio) Tata

N. UTICA - Mrs. Anna R. (DiOrio) Tata, age 94, went home to be with Jesus when she passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in the comfort of her son’s home with her devoted family by her side. She was born in Utica on September 26, 1925, a daughter of the late John DiOrio and Mary (Nicolette) DiOrio-Penge. She received her education in local schools and took pride in being a lifelong resident of Utica, especially the East side. On April 3, 1948, Anna was united in marriage with Peter Mariano Tata. The couple shared 42 years with love in their hearts, and Anna missed him from the day he passed away on February 1, 1991,… until her last day. Prior to her retirement, Anna worked at General Electric/Bleecker Street Plant, as well as Univac. As a matriarch, Anna loved cooking and took pride in providing meals for family and friends. She was happiest when caring for her grandchildren and found great joy in later years being around her great-grandchildren. As a devoted woman of the Lord, she trusted Jesus Christ for all her needs and remained faithful to prayer. Anna loved the Lord and worshipped, prior to health complications, at Immanuel Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jerry Sinden; son and daughter-in-law, David and Marie Tata; grandchildren, Michael and Sharon Sinden, Cynthia Sinden; Alyssa and David Christensen, Keri Tata and Andrew Cieslinski, Gina and Mathew Rockwell, and Marianna Tata; great-grandchildren, Chris Godwin and Bethany Sinden; Sonny Rockwell, and Charlie Christensen. Anna was anticipating the springtime arrival of a great-granddaughter Baby Girl Christensen. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded by her siblings, Rose Penge Sforzo, Anthony Penge, Andrew DiOrio, Louis DiOrio, and Josephine (DiOrio) Puleo. Her children also wish to remember her late husband’s siblings and spouses. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Sultana Razia, and the staff of the Visiting Nurse Association for their care; and to the personnel of Hospice & Palliative Care, especially Crystal, Irene, Beverly, Matt, and Lisa, for their love in tending to Anna. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Anna’s Memorial Service which will commence on Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the service. Inurnment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
