Mrs. Anna S. (Colonnelli) Cannucciari

Mrs. Anna S. (Colonnelli) Cannucciari, age 89, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her loving and devoted family by her side. Anna was born on December 26, 1924, a daughter of late Ermete and Amelia (Cannucciari) Colonnelli. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of U.F.A. Joined in marriage on July 8, 1951 to Alviero S. Cannucciari, the pair enjoyed an enduring union built on mutual love and respect. At one time, Anna was employed as a cashier at Loblaws and later with Chicago Markets. She was a faithful member of the former St. Marys Church on South Street where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server, and a Trustee and member of the Legion of Mary. Devoted to her religion, Anna prayed the rosary daily, always keeping her loved ones and their needs as the focal point of her benedictions. Annas culinary skills were greatly admired and appreciated. Her homemade pasta and delicious sweets were standouts her family particularly enjoyed. Anna was a voracious reader and often completed several novels a week. For recreation, she loved spending leisure time camping with her family at sites throughout New York State. She enjoyed the camaraderie shared in her memberships with the Mu Gamma Alpha Sorority, and the Cornhill People United Committee. Annas unselfish and giving character impressed all who knew her. Her delightful sense of humor and her teasing nature were part of her lighter side. Anna is survived by her husband, Alviero; her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Janice and Robert Bedell, of New Hartford; her sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Daniel P. and Phyllis Cannucciari, of Auburn, and David A. and Karen Cannucciari, of Syracuse. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son, John Cannucciari who preceded her on February 9, 2012. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Christopher and Leigh Cannucciari; Arden Cannucciari, Minel Cannucciari; Brandon Bedell, Jared Bedell, and Laura Bedell; her great-grandson, Dylan Cannucciari; nieces and nephews including, Janice and Frank Massi, and RoseMarie Mancuso; in-laws, Guiseppina Guarnera, and Luciano and Mafalda Cannucciari, all of Italy, and special friends, Rose and Paul Ambroze. Anna was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Alviero and Mary Colonnelli; brother-in-law, Serafino Cannucciari; and sister-in-law, Fiorenza Cannucciari. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center for their compassionate care and attention not only shown to Anna but extended to her family as well. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass in Annas honor which will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, officiated by Rev. Richard ONeill. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the mass. Memorial contributions in Annas name may be considered to the Abraham House or the Hope House; envelopes will be available at the service. Committal will follow graveside in St. Agnes Cemetery.
