Anna (Colucci) Amarosa

Mrs. Anna (Colucci) Amarosa, age 88, of Little Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Born in Utica on November 30, 1919, Anna was the daughter of the late Donato and Theresa (Matarrese) Colucci. She was raised and educated locally. On April 23, 1938 she married Eugene J. “Gino” Amarosa with whom she shared 59 years in a union blessed with true love and companionship prior to Gino’s passing on July 6, 1997. In Anna’s earlier years, she worked in the mills on Bleecker St. where she was a seamstress, and later was employed by Helmont Mills, and the Salada Corporation from which she retired. Anna was a cheerful woman who lived for her family and their needs, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. At her home, she loved to cook, and always had a welcoming place for friends or loved ones who stopped by. She was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. Anna is survived by her children and their families, Harriet and Guido “Sonny” DeLuisi of Little Falls, The Honorable Louis E. and Ellen Amarosa of Churchville, NY, and Linda L. and Albert Schaefer of Hamburg, NY; her grandchildren, Ann Marie and Robert Long, Michael and Lisa Carzo, Carol Carzo, Robert and Peggy Florian, Eugene “Gino” and Michele Florian, Martin and Debbie Florian; and her great-grandchildren, Melissa Ursi, Michael Carzo, Cristina Carzo, Joseph Carzo, Alex Florian, Aric Florian, Alexander Robert Long, Martin Florian, Jr., Gina Florian, Bryce Florian, and Brooke Florian. Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Vera LoRocco of FL. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Martin, Sr. and Fannie Colucci; her sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Emilio DeMarco; and her in-laws, Carmen V. and Regina "Dina" Amarosa, Louis B. and Antoinette "Nana" Amarosa, Anthony R. and Ann Amarosa, Peter LoRocco, and Dominick A. “Dick” and Maryanne Collea. The family extends gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Van Allen Nursing Home for the care and attention shown to Anna. In keeping with Anna’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Service which will commence on Thursday morning at 11:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial contributions in Anna’s honor to the American Heart Association; envelopes will be available at the service.
