Angeline M. (Calenzo) Convertino

An angel earned another pair of wings when they came down and laid our mother to rest. Mrs. Angeline M. (Calenzo) Convertino, age 87, of Utica, passed away on July 30, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 2, 1921, in Utica, Angeline was the daughter of the late Andrew and Angeline Calenzo. She was joined in marriage to Angelo Convertino on April 18, 1942, sharing a beautiful 48 years before his passing on January 6, 1991. Angeline’s life revolved around her children. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, and grandmother who will always be remembered and loved. She loved to play bingo and cards. She had many good memories and loved looking back and sharing those memories with her family. Angeline leaves behind two beautiful daughters, who took care of her until her passing, Diane Convertino and Janice DiFondi of North Carolina; a loving son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Linda Convertino of Utica; her sister, Josephine Elias; her brother and sister-in-law, Pasquale and Henrietta Calenzo; and a dear friend, Dolores Ganim, all of Utica. She also leaves three beautiful grandchildren, Michael Convertino of Utica, whom she admired and who always made her laugh; Tammy Mauro and her husband, Ricardo, of Marcy, NY (Tammy was her little buddy); and Rochelle Ziegler and her husband, David, of Ocala, Florida (Rochelle was the apple of her eye). She leaves seven great-grandchildren, Daniele and Kristina Convertino, Giuseppe and Antonio Mauro, and Isabella, Jonah, and Nathan Ziegler; and a special little boy, Brandon Lum. In addition, she leaves her in-laws, Mary and Chris Grande, and Louie Randazzo; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Jenny; her sister and brother-in-law, Philomena and John Nicotera; her brother-in-law, Byron Elias; and her sister-in-law, Connie Randazzo. Angeline will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. We will always love you, Mom. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Angeline’s funeral service will commence on Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 noon from the funeral home and at 1:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
