Angela (Pinto) Florenz

Mrs. Angela (Pinto) Florenz, graced with the longevity of 97 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the St. Joseph Nursing Home with the love and support of her family. Her journey of life was complete and she lived each day to the fullest. Born in Utica on March 12, 1915, Angela was the daughter of the late Angelo and Aurelia (Maggiolino) Pinto. A lifelong Utican she received her education in local schools. On June 1, 1940 she was joined in the sacrament of marriage to Fred Florenz with whom she shared 36 years prior to his passing on March 8, 1977. During her working days, Angela held several positions with the General Electric Company at the French Road location, retiring in 1983. A well respected and vibrant woman, Angela’s family and friends will fondly recall her gentle soul and ability to bring peace to others. Deeply religious, her Catholic faith brought her closer to God and she found comfort and truth in Holy Scripture. She led a Bible study group with her best friend, Mary Ellen, to inspire a greater understanding of the written word and an appreciation of God’s grace and the gifts he gave to us all. During her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and swimming, and she loved socializing with her many friends. She was a communicant of Church of our Lady of Lourdes. Angela is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra “Sandy” and Joseph A. Zito of Marcy with whom Angela at one time resided, and Darlene “Pudgy” and Samuel Ameduri, Jr. of Frankfort; her sons, Vincent Florenz of Brookfield, and Fred Florenz and Karin Jenkins of Norwich; her grandchildren, Christine and Jim Gray; Renee Gazzal, and Samuel Ameduri III and Mandi Larson; Jason and Tiffany Florenz, Sarah and Andrew Abrams, and Mark Florenz and fiancée Tiffany Ellsworth; Lisa Florenz, Jennifer Florenz and fiance William Ryan, and Stacy Florenz and fiance Brandon Rettig. She was also blessed with step-grandchildren, Noreen and Ronald Beasock, and Nicole and Chris Getz. Also left to mourn her passing are her great-grandchildren, Steven Gray and Taylor Gray; Mari-Lea Gazzal, and Jon Anthony Gazzal; Austin Florenz and Tucker Florenz; Cody Abrams and Westin Abrams; Gaven Florenz; and Grayson Florenz; Ronald Beasock, Joseph Beasock, Carly Beasock; Danielle Getz, and Anthony Getz. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws, and longtime friend with whom she kept in close contact with, Timmi Gumbs. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Samuel “Pop” Zanio, and Antoinette and Louis F. Talarico; and her infant sister, Grace; her brothers and sisters-in-law, James “Jack” and Antoinette Pinto, Frank and Alice Pinto, and John and Rose Pinto; her in-laws, Rose Caparusso, Louise and Anthony Scalise, Mary and Vito A. Colangelo, Catherine “Kate” Paolozzi, and Josephine and Michael “Mike” Marrone; and two nieces, Rose Greco and Deanna Whittman. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Carmelite Sisters and the second floor staff at the St. Joseph Nursing Home who expressed sincere kindness and a home-like atmosphere. A note of appreciation to the activities department for providing much daily enjoyment as well as the privilege of her availability to attend daily mass. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Nursing Home activities in lieu of floral offerings; envelopes will be available at the service. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Monday morning at 11:00 at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by Rev. Joseph Salerno. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Angela’s family honored and commemorated her life at a private time. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
