Amelia (Clemente) Schnitt

Mrs. Amelia (Clemente) Schnitt, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Abraham House. Born in Italy, Amelia was the daughter of the late Michael and Louisa (Tomasi) Clemente. She received her education in local schools. In 1940 she married Joseph H. Schnitt who passed away on December 23, 1990 after celebrating 50 years of marriage. Amelia was employed by the Utica City School District. Amelia is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Grace and Martin Angiulli of Tampa, FL, Norma and Paul LaBarbera of New Hartford, Linda Alberico of Floyd, and Rosanna Flores of Utica. Always close to her heart was the memory of her son-in-law, Joseph Alberico, who passed away on October 17, 2003. She also leaves her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Doreen Schnitt of Tampa, FL, and Joseph H. Jr., and Deborah Schnitt of Yorkville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her sister, Mary Pilenza of Utica; her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Gladys Baye. She was predeceased by her sister, Angeline Carnavale; and her brother, Nicholas Clemente. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and the personnel of the Abraham House for their loving care. Also, a thank you to Amelia’s loving daughter, Rosanna, on behalf of her brothers and sisters, for her ultimate devotion and loving care that she offered to their mother, her Me-Ma. In keeping with Amelia’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. The family will honor her wishes in a private gathering. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Amelia’s Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life which will commence on Tuesday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of Mass. By family request, please omit floral offerings. For those wishing to do so, please consider memorial donations in Amelia’s honor to the Abraham House; envelopes will be available at the service. Interment will take place in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.
