Mrs. Virginia "Gina" (Doerr) Hardt Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

PALM BAY, FL / UTICA - Mrs. Virginia “Gina” (Doerr) Hardt, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City on September 5, 1929, Virginia was the daughter of the late Walter Doerr and Virginia (Forgione) Fierro. She also knew the love of her late step-father, Paul Fierro. On May 26, 1948 she married Charles “Buddy” Hardt with whom she shared a blessed union of 54 years prior to his passing on November 18, 2002. Gina held a strong work ethic and was employed by the General Electric Company as an assembler for many years. She also worked as a Clerk in the Pharmacy Department at St. Elizabeth Medical Center prior to her retirement. Gina was admired and appreciated as the loving matriarch of her family. Vivacious in spirit, she had great energy and enjoyed good times with her loved ones, as well as her longtime friends in both Utica and Florida. An impeccable dresser, Gina loved life and a good party. She had a deep appreciation for music and was a fabulous dancer. She was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and their accomplishments always warmed her heart. Her hobbies included arts & crafts, and coordinating events as an Activity Director of her community at Woodside Apartments in Palm Bay. Physically active throughout her life, Gina loved a long walk with a beautiful sunset. An amicable and altruistic woman, she was a member of the Sons of Italy, and the Italian-American Club both in Utica and Florida where she assisted with Hospice Benefits and Fundraisers as a coordinator. A devout Roman Catholic, she was a communicant of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. You could find Gina volunteering at the Feast of Saint’s Cosmo and Damien annually, frying dough and serving eggplant. Virginia is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Virginia Hardt Landesman and her late husband Martin C. “Marty” Landesman, Regina Talerico and Mark Sirianni; and the memory of her beloved daughter, June Marie Maugeri who passed away on August 25, 2011. She also leaves her son-in-law, Thomas V. Maugeri Sr.; her grandchildren, Kelly Lynn and husband Matthew Pacuk, Chelesea Talerico and wife Melissa Grube, Ashley Talerico, Jaime Lynn Maugeri, and Thomas V. Jr. and wife Carrie Maugeri; and great-grandchildren, Arya; Isabella; Carmella, Landon, and Lillian. She also leaves her nephew and niece, Donnie and Beth Skermont; her Forgione family cousins with whom she shared many joyous reunions; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Ann Marie Ruth; the memory of her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane M. and Donald H. “Don” Skermont; members of the DeFuria and Carzo families; her friends at Woodside Condo in Florida, and her local community friends. Gina was predeceased by her companion, Anthony J. “Chic” DeFuria. The family extends their sincere appreciation to Gina’s neighbors, Christine and Frank Welch for the care and compassionate concern they displayed throughout the years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Eannace Funeral Home, 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Virginia’s funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2022 at 10:00 from the funeral home and at 11:00 at St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Ave, Utica, NY 13501. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
