UTICA - Mrs. Sarah (Miullo) Rosky Femia, age 97, received the best St. Valentine’s blessing when the Lord took her home on Sunday, February 14, 2021 after a short illness. Born in Utica on June 8, 1923, Sarah was the daughter of the late Cesare and Rose (Villanova) Miullo. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1941. In 1950 she wed Henry S. Rosky, and they resided in Chadwicks. Their marriage lasted 35 years and during that time they were blessed with two children, John and Ellen. They enjoyed family life and had plentiful memories; Henry passed away on December 31, 1985. Sarah started her working career at Cardamone & Sons Wholesale Distributing and was also employed for a short duration at Griffiss Air Force Base. After raising her family, she returned to the workforce as a Postal Clerk at the Chadwick’s Post Office, and then on to Marine Midland Bank as a member of the Stenography Pool and because of her skills she was often called upon to be an Administrative Assistant to bank officers, the position from which she retired. Sarah was a lady of many talents. She played the piano, and loved singing. She was also a den mother, PTA volunteer, crafter, and back in the day, active in what was referred to as the Ladies Home Bureau, a community social group. Sarah was fortunate to be blessed with a second happy marriage in the spring of 1987 to Vincent Femia and they enjoyed 21 years together residing in Utica and spending winters in Treasure Island, Florida. Vincent passed away in 2008. She was always a gracious host and entertained many holiday dinners and gatherings with family and friends, old and new. She was an independent gal for most of her life, learning about different cultures, and accomplishing so many things using her God-given talents. Sarah was a member of St. Patrick/St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Chadwicks. She believed in the Lord and attended Mass regularly when she could. Her passion of singing was seen in her membership of the parish choir. Sarah spent her last 5 years at the Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she received wonderful care and was the only resident that had her own wine stash in their kitchen! Sarah is survived by her son, John H. Rosky, and held close to her heart the memory of her daughter, Ellen Migliore who passed on May 10th (Mother’s Day) in 2009. She also leaves her son-in-law, Salvatore Migliore, Sr.; her grandchildren, Brent J. and Jenna Rosky; Matthew Migliore, and twins Max and Salvatore Migliore, Jr.; step-daughter, Mary Beth “Betsy” and Drew Donovan and their children, Bethany Colenzo, Bryan and Cynthia Donovan, Drew and Danielle Donovan, and Jessica and EJ Dinki; step-son, David and Patricia “Patty” Femia and their son, Vincent Femia; and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and friends, Betty Roberts, her close Chadwicks friend for many years and her Utica neighbor, Rose Toukatly; as well as several other meaningful friendships from her Utica residence. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Decker; brothers and sister-in-law, Michael Miullo/USAAF who lost his life during WWII, and Nathaniel and Mary Theresa Miullo; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Helen Rosky; and in-laws, Al and Rose Rosky, and Hedwig “Heddy” and Donald Confer. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sarah’s funeral service and Celebration of Life which will commence on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 in the morning at 10:30 at St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.
