Mrs. Sandra J. "Sandy" (Comito) Iannone Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

UTICA - Mrs. Sandra J. “Sandy” (Comito) Iannone, age 74, went home to the Lord on Friday, December 4, 2020 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born in Utica on October 25, 1946, Sandra was the daughter of the late Nicholas M. and Rose (Lima) Comito. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1964. On April 8, 1965 she married Marcus “Mark” Iannone with whom she shared a home and a life filled with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a warm welcome for everyone. They shared nearly 47 years together prior to Mark’s passing on March 23, 2012. Sandy was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and had a host of friends. A thoughtful, caring matriarch, she was also a great cook and baker who graciously shared her delectable creations with her guests. She was a bountiful baker and her trays of cookies were phenomenal! She found pleasure in playing cards with family and friends, but at the end of the day, it was simply sharing time with them that became the “best times of her life”. Sandra is survived by her children and their loves, Sherry Iannone and Neil Fatata, Jeffrey and Tammy Iannone, and Rosann Iannone; her grandchildren, Sarah Shorey, and Matthew Centolella; Marcus Iannone, and Christopher Iannone; and Crystal and Brian Menard; great-grandchildren, Noah, Vito, and Freya Menard; brother and sister-in-law, Robert, Sr. and Pamela Comito; and her sister and brother-in-law, Luann Horton-Murad and her husband George Murad. She also leaves many nieces and nephews including Bethany Comito and Steve Bennett, Robert Comito Jr., Roseann and Frank Pelli, Luann and Mark Fagan, and Bill Horton II and Rachel Wells; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and longtime loyal friends, Patty, JoJo, and MaryBeth. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Tullio and Louise (Guerriero) Iannone, and her brother-in-law, William (Bill) Horton. The family extends their thanks to the staff of the Forestport Household at the Masonic Care Community of NY who have been absolutely wonderful in the care and love shown to Sandy during her stay. They tended to her needs with consideration and compassion. For a life well lived, a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00 am at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. Social distancing, registration for contact tracing, and a mask covering your nose and mouth will be required.
